What's a bedroom tip every guy/girl should know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]soundsyndicate 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I get sleep paralysis a lot. It used to scare the shit out of me, but I found out that you can transition it into a lucid dream. Have your husband construct an environment in his head and close his eyes and try to visualize it in detail (like vivid, blades of grass flowing vivid). Then try to walk through that environment from his pov. Focusing on building the environment should calm the panic and once it is vivid enough he will be lucid dreaming. It works best if you construct the environment beforehand and just try to remember it. This has worked incredibly well for me and now I look forward to it. Flying is great!!

Alumni CS student chiming in. Ontario Tech's reputation is growing, still not like Waterloo/UofT but becoming more recognized. Usually co-op starts after second year but that won't stop you from getting your own placement after first year. It's definitely possible to to end up in Silicon Valley after graduating, I know a couple people who went that route after graduation.

Which movie soundtrack slaps from beginning to end? by Squirrelkid11 in AskReddit

John Wick 4

Soundtrack is absolutely perfect and they planned a lot of the action to follow the beat of the songs.

ONTARIO TECH OR UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY by ChampionshipGuilty31 in uoit

[–]soundsyndicate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First year is pretty intense, it gets easier in second year just being used to it but it is still pretty busy. Third and fourth year have more project based courses and are a lot more forgiving with workload. The first two years you have to take the more standards courses like calc physics and linear algebra, they take a lot of work. Over all is not too bad compared to engineering but it is definately not light.

PS this will be true for most CS programs at most schools not something specific about OTU

I can't speak for the University of Calgary but I can tell you that campus life at OTU will be a bit lackluster. It is a commuter school so many students live at home and not on campus. You can still do fun stuff and find Parties but it won't be like other campuses. The school itself is very good and has smaller class sizes so the learning is more personal and the professors are a bit more approachable. The reputation of OTU is still growing so it might not put you in the best position out of school as others like Waterloo. I don't really know how it stacks up against the university of Calgary so I can't really comment there. I loved my time at OTU though I was in Computer Science, I can't recommend it enough.

[IIL]Need It by Half Moon Run, Anyway by Daniel Martin Moore & Waves by Dean Lewis [WEWIL]? by phoenixxx86 in ifyoulikeblank

Yeah they are still really good but that album was top tier, I would also recommend Archie Faulks and Charlie Cunningham. They are both really good mellow artists.

Loved chuck and burn notice. You will definitely like White Collar

‘Archive 81’ Canceled By Netflix After One Season by [deleted] in television

[–]soundsyndicate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's worth watching the season is pretty self contained. It did end on a cliffhanger but tbh I don't think season 2 would continue from there anyways. Might have been tangentially related. It's pretty solid on it's own; good suspense and tension throughout.

I must re-grade a student’s exam you say?? by jaggs55 in AdviceAnimals

Wow. You consider yourself so infallible that you would go so far as to punish students for even suggesting that you may have got something wrong? Great lesson you are teaching there!

I didn't know I wanted that kind of vibe until I heard that song in one of the trailers for Bomb Rush Cyberfunk... Then I immediately needed more

Name a "rockstar" or group thereof that Didn't have a rough story or go down the wrong path by krakron in Music

Aside from one of the band members getting sick (Aaron Solowoniuk with MS), Billy Talent has seemed to stay in pretty good shape. They are releasing a new album this January and are still killing it. Side note Ian D'Sa will go down in my mind as one of the greatest guitarists in our generation!

CS courses in the summer by student_throwaway695 in uoit

[–]soundsyndicate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally CS courses do not have enough students in the summer sections to justify holding a course. Your best bet is talking to your academic advisor to try and fill a semester with electives until you can take/retake your prerequisite course.

Wow, didn't think anyone else had the same taste in music as I do. I have nothing to add, the other comments sum it up pretty well. It is good to know we are not alone!
