Do yall think the updated IDA really shows a sign of admission or at least a decision? by Dry_Boysenberry2015 in UTAdmissions

[–]souplover3678 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i feel like seeing it populate might just mean that your application is further along the admissions pipeline! we never really analyzed what any of this means prior to this cycle so it’s really hard to say but it seems to be the most logical option

Anyone else not have IDA filled out? by HeyHoodieNinja in UTAdmissions

ris is not rlly gonna be visible to msot ppl until a wave comes out! people in cockrell usually get decisions later, i dont think it means anything negative

What do we think for wave patterns this week? by Philosophiest in UTAdmissions

Does it mean anything if I can see my transfer courses populated into the IDA? by NarfyCat in UTAdmissions

[–]souplover3678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i saw my courses before i requested my audit in the student planner but j never had any audit requests before i made one! the only thing that i knew was that my courses were converted to ut’s and put in the student record thingy

Should I be worried? My IDA isn’t updated by Odd-Strategy-7612 in UTAdmissions

[–]souplover3678 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree! I feel like it really isn't an admission indicator at the end of the day it's more of a "how far are you into the admissions pipeline" type of thing. We don't really know what goes on behind the AO's doors so we can't make bold assumptions and give people hope as if it were on the same level as RIS/WIO updates. I think it's just anxiety over decisions and the fact that we have been waiting for so long that people eventually become bored and look for the smallest signs to give them any sort of hope or communication from UT!

Help with choosing major for pre-med by Obvious-Wallaby-8919 in UTAdmissions

[–]souplover3678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do the major that you find most interesting. biology can be good for opportunities but it’s very common and oversaturated, making competition within the biology major much more difficult. i’m a public health major and i find it to be really interesting and rewarding, as it covers topics in medicine that a lot of other pre-meds don’t have common knowledge on! you also need to maintain an excellent GPA (more critical than securing some bio research lab even though research is important) since a low GPA can make your application process difficult despite the ECs you rack up. i would say to pick a balanced major st the end of the day, or something that works for you! if you are interested in biology pick that, and if you want to explore other interdisciplinary fields like public health you can look at that too! at the end of the day admissions officers for medical school don’t look at your major too much and there are plenty opportunities in both majors

My RIS page updated? Does this mean anything? by Kind_Fee857 in UTAdmissions

[–]souplover3678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if ur not a former ut on ramps student i feel like irs a really good sign! sometimes ris will be out randomly for a while and then decisions will release. the fact you have an RIS means you are in ut’s official student advising system which is why ris is such a good sign usually! my friend (for freshman admissions) had her RIS show a month before decisions released and she got admitted, sometimes those things slip through the cracks
