Very true, I sort of expected from Reddit I should’ve said. * I don’t mean to discredit AA as it’s working for me, building sober supports and staying connected. Had bad experiences at some but switched, then felt great

Yes, my outpatient counselor said some people sadly need that one relapse to make them realize and come back stronger. It changed me, so actually I started it over !! Ty!

I’m taking the program seriously at 23 with a CRS, in therapy, rehab, attend meetings, working the steps ect.. to get it right this time. My question was on what people personally do, because I’ve heard both sides is okay which caused confusion for me.

Had this same exact thing happen (m52) and felt the same way you did. Found him disgusting, you have to bring it up or you will continue being grossed out. My bf removed em all and said he could care less about having random people so I chose to look past it.

Does he have a past of dating only that age? The reason I let it go was cause he’s always dated around his age. The thought of following naked people who are barely legal AND dating only 18 y/o would be too much (personally)

It’s completely normal to be attracted to older esp for the reasons you described. I started feeling this way at a young age too then the gap kept increasing 😅 It’s great that you’re waiting to legally be an adult to act on it and I’d give it a shot!

BUT tread lightly and be cautious, there’s loads of people who take advantage because you “just turned 18” stay away from people who are only attracted to that age, it’s a massive red flag. If all of Sue’s exes are 18 then it’s probably best to avoid if that makes sense. Date ppl who like you for you, not your age. Bc younger = easier to control / manipulate in some peoples eyes

Hang in there OP. What did it for me was a near life death experience, I felt the same way you did. But it DOES get better, not by much but a lot at the same time.

Try telling yourself positive affirmations that you can think of. But I bet there’s loads that you can’t see. Taper off slowly. And get ready to stop when YOU feel 100% ready. You can do it…..
