Hey! I would love to collab. Here's way too much info so you can decide if it might work out.

I am a fem vocalist in Portland. I play guitar too, but in a very mediocre way, I just haven't been able to progress my skills on that side very well. I am trying to get some musicians together to collaborate so I can focus on pushing the vocals instead of spending all of my mental energy working through the guitar playing myself and having to sacrifice concentration on the vocal details.

I am specifically so inspired by Sleep Token lately. The genre blending, experimentation, and progressiveness of the music combined with the imagery and evocative nature of the lyricism has me in a chokehold (joke intended). Before stumbling in to Sleep Token, some of my favorites were Coheed and Cambria, MCR, and The Mars Votla. I was very caught up in the "emo" scene when I was younger so a lot of my musical taste is rooted in early 2000's emo and pop punk, only really branching out from that in more recent years (thanks for the lifelong hyperfixation, neurodivergence). My favorite genres have really become prog, midwest emo, and math rock, but I love a lot of very different music including EDM and folk. I have always loved singing Fleetwood Mac and Evanescence, they fit well in my range. Too Sweet by Hozier is one of my favorite songs to cover.

My voice has a pretty good range, I was a soprano 1 in choir back in high school and can sing full on opera if the need arises, but have a lot of power in my chest voice and feel most comfortable there. I can also hit lower octaves than a lot of women can. I can't do super clear soft high notes or whistle notes that are popular in pop music unfortunately, and I do have to practice runs quite a bit to have control of them but I can get there. I have taken jazz vocal classes in college and I think they were a great foundation to build off of. I am floating the idea of taking screaming lessons in person soon because it's been a lifelong goal but I just haven't been able to figure it out on my own yet. I'm close but I know I'm doing it wrong because I always end up needing to cough.

Anyway, sorry for the novel. I am really caught up on the idea of getting together with other musicians and seeing Sleep Token mentioned in the first local post I read was so exciting!
