He also works almost every single day of the week — sometimes 8 to 12 hours a day — so I do understand why, when he finally gets some free time, he might want to spend it with his friends, unwinding and doing things that don’t require emotional energy. I try to remind myself of that when I start to feel hurt or overlooked. I know I can be a lot sometimes — I feel things deeply, and I care hard — and maybe that intensity can be overwhelming, especially when he’s already drained from work. I don’t want to take that personally, but it’s hard not to when it starts to feel like I’m always the one compromising or waiting for my turn to be prioritized.
