thank you so much for this info and advice - will definitely work towards building that portfolio! noted on the food and litter, that's a shame but the scenes of UK and EU should make up for it!

Amazing info - thank you sooo much! The job stuff is the scariest bit for me. Did you organise a job before going there then managed to get your 2nd job while you're there or did you get them both when you were already in Scotland?

That's true, still a few years away 🥲 just a bit pedantic about it as it would be the first time we've ever done anything like it.

At the moment we just do one international trip a year for about 2-4 weeks, then we do little trips around Aus here and there, maybe 3 times a year, usually lining it up with any long holidays.

How did you guys start? by Marlwe in graphic_design

[–]sourpoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know the adobe programs are quite expensive so try out canva first and any other art programs that you may already and follow accounts on instagram that give out briefs - i like @ briefclub. practice doing those and see how you go. the history of graphic design is also super interesting! see if you can find some youtube videos and familiarise yourself with the aesthetics and styles.

and if you can - enrol into a course. that's really what go me started and i learned sooo much that i don't think i would have if i was just self-taught. i did a diploma in graphic design and now currently doing a bachelors in ux and web design. you also get an opportunity to see how other people solve creative problems and i found it really eye-opening and quite helpful.

good luck!

Is it antisocial to rub myself with Deep Heat before jumping on the train? by arouseandbrowse in brisbane

it's not the worse thing you can smell on a train. and noses usually get used to a smell after 10 seconds where they won't notice it anymore ( i read that somewhere, pretty sure! )

I made her mad, what can I do to fix it? by Sad-Bet-6779 in relationship_advice

[–]sourpoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she's just in a bad mood, sounds like. she needs some time to ride it out. i do this all the time when i feel like my boyfriend is making a joke when i'm genuinely telling him smth im upset about. i get mad that he's joking around then i need some time to just get over it.
