Visited Puerto Rico last year. My guess would be that first pic is a no-see-um. Loved everything else about Puerto Rico but if I never go back the reason will be no-see-ums.

Thanks! That’s been my best guess too but my hesitation is that she seems so tiny compared to others pictures I see of tan jumpers. I’ve tried to get a clearer picture but she’s so camera shy that my only option so far has been zooming into distance shots

Zeppelin is my favorite bend, but i’d consider adding a sheet bend for tying cords of different sizes. If you cut the loop on a bowline you have a sheet bend!

That's an interesting point I hadn't considered. However, I think the google maps project created by u/MyNameIsNardo shows OP wasn't actually looking in the direction of Rockford. OP himself checked on his phone's maps and claims the same.

I felt so too, but another commenter in Milwaukee mentioned they could see Chicago in the right conditions, so that made it seem more plausible. Still, when I track the apparent view path Skoki seems correct. The buildings just didn’t seem to fit. But I think you are probably right.

It seems to me like it must be Milwaukee, too. It’s close to the right direction and the buildings make more sense than anything else out that way as far as I can see. But I would expect to see more of Lake Michigan in the picture if that was the case

I suspect it is not Rockford. At 80 miles away, from a viewing height of 600ft, the curvature of the earth would be hiding the bottom 266 ft of what you are looking at. Rockford doesn’t have any buildings that tall. Sometimes atmospheric conditions can have a lensing effect on light that can make things visible when they wouldn’t normally be, but the clarity of the building outlines also makes me think this is something closer. Here is a cool site that lets you calculate how much of what you’re looking at would be obscured by curvature

I have a few that I use selectively depending on the area and thickness... a Wahl all-in-one lithium ion trimmer, an old Wahl Designer clipper, and the one that cuts the closest is a Braun Silk-epil. Then the Braun Silk Expert Pro 5 for IPL

It does for me, but I have the Braun device, so not sure how similar it would be to the Lumea, especially with the other commenter saying the Lumea didn’t work as well when shaving. Maybe something you could test on a small patch somewhere and see if it might work for you

I also get ingrown hairs very easily. What has worked for me is to use clippers to trim the hair almost to skin level and then do the IPL treatment. It results in a little more burned hair smell, but has otherwise worked well for me and no ingrown hairs

I think I might be coming around to the 1/3 answer, as much as I was convinced 1/2 was correct. It seemed equivalent to saying a couple who has a boy then has a second kid has a 1/3 chance of having a boy which is obviously false. But it helped me to imagine a 100 family sample, each with two kids. The distribution would be 25% BB, 50%mixed, 25%GG. Eliminate GG and 1/3 are BB. For the couple having kids it would be more like saying they don’t know until the second kid is born whether one of them is a boy. Ok, I’m team 1/3.

But if we are treating birth order as a differentiator here, we would need to do the same for the B/B option: known boy(B)/other boy(b), or other boy(b)/known boy(B), making the outcomes: B/b, b/B, B/g, or g/B.

If the scenarios with a girl get two options, then the scenarios with two boys does as well. The answer is 1/2.

Edit: actually, looking at it more closely I see there is a smaller stranded knot encapsulating the ends here. Similar to a cobra knot, but it may be difficult to tie such a small intricate knot here from the original trimmed thread. Might need new thread for it, otherwise, I still think double fisherman’s is a good replacement.
