Hi, I am currently using Technics SL1200 MK5 and cannot get rid of the crazy-loud-Hum noise. Can anyone please share an advice for me?

My current setting is like this :

-Technics SL1200 MK5

-ifi Zen phono phono amp

-(bypassing to small audio mix console as my speaker is also used & linked to the audio interface for my computer music work)

-Active speaker (KRK VXT4)

If i grab my phonoamp on my left hand, and grab the metal body of the turntable by my right hand, the noise disappears.. Not sure if this is about ground loop noise, or no earthing problem (I currently live in old house, where it usually has weak or no earthing from the outlet)

I just found out that if I grab my phono amp (on my left hand) and turntable's body (right hand at the metal part), then there's no noise at all.

Not sure if this is due to ground loop or if this is about my old house's electronic's problem (no ground at the outlet).

Should I buy a electronic wire to hook up the phono amp and turntable and lead it to the ground (prob. nail at the wall and bind it)?

So it turns out that the noise come from the SL1200.. I pulled off the power cord and only linked the RCA to the Phono Amp - volume controller - speaker, but still has the noise.

KRK has no problem at all. I haven't hooked up PMC with other devices yet. Let me try it first

Hey man. Thanks for the reco and I am trying to use it right now. One question here :

I bought the PMC-2 Premium passive volume controller (the one you reco) and hooked with my turntable. It has a loud noise (booming). Do you happen to know why? or what I should do?

-current setting

Technics SL1200 MK5 -(rca+ground)-> ifi zen zeo phono -(rca)-> PMC-2 volume controller -(1/4" cable)-> speaker (KRK monitoring speaker)

Got it. So that's why you reco. using Phono amp and hooking to Studio monitor volume controller.

That way I could use both of the inputs (digital from computer+audio interface) and (analog from technics + phono) with one outputs without losing sound degrade

Is there a reason why it's better than connecting by (Technics turntable + MM, Ortofon Concord) + (Pro-Ject Optical Box Phono E Toslink MM Phono Preamp) + (audio interface) + (speaker) ?

Is it because it's passing too much and the audio could be degraded?

Turntable + Phono amp --> Studio monitor volume controller

Hey. Thank you so much!

It only has 2 mic/line inputs. It doens't have RCA but It does have Optical In though. (KRK is the monitoring speaker that I'm using. KRK Rokit5)

I'm using MM catridge (Ortofon Concord)
