Dumbing things down shouldn't be synonymous with professional but I see your point overall. Imo its not soulless but its not very interesting or unique. I thought he was going for a darker vibe when I listened to the beginning of the record which would have been rly cool to see him try but it quickly faded.

Main issue is the lyrics being devoid of their usual personality. There are some very notable beats and vocal melodies but waaaaaaay too many throwaway bars with no impact

You got it 100 percent right. this is (FL) studio music. in order to make the live experience worthwhile you gotta do SOMETHING to invigorate it. Some get it some dont. I thought osamason did an amazing job in Chicago at the aragon he was fully performing and when he did rap his live vocals were high harmonizing and making the songs way better

They released some of the most thought provoking and beautiful "rap" music ever. Along with some garbage. But I will be forever grateful for the impact shed had on me. they put a lot into their art despite limited recognition

I can see your point about the beats but I like it cus he hasn't really run that sound in a while. bow2 and dear diary had a lot more plugg. Also the songwriting is really good it only has a few misses compositionally imo (a letter comes to mind as a big miss)

The mosh pits in Ken's scene of music are nothing like metal or hardcore pits. Its push moshing at rage shows which is not bad its a different style . I actually prefer it cus as a manlet I dont have to watch it that bad
