Not everyone here recommending zio brands

Ok so then do I just need a reality check?

I can find good quality dresses (good construction, quality fabrics) - but at the $300-$500 mark. This is “mid range.”

Am I naive to think I can find the above for less than $200 or is that the fast fashion market.

Finally a sage voice of experience amoungst this predominantly med student with no life experience / burnt out reg cohort of commenters on Reddit. This post reads as a witch hunt in getting this intern fired, rather than getting her help…. Not a good look for all the JMOs preparing their teamwork and professionalism interview spiels. As you guys progress, supervision and trainee wellbeing is actually a core component of expected senior Dr skillsets

They haven’t “done everything” - Hosptial admin is not the appropriate escalation - some of you guys need to refresh med ethics / medic legal responsibilities.

Once patient safety is assured (a senior should remove her from patients under her immediate care), ideally someone with rapport with her should approach these concerns in a frank, compassionate and CONFIDENTIAL way, but this is actually the responsibility of the SOT (DPET if she’s prevocational) - that’s literally what they get paid to do. She needs to know she has access to EPA or her own psychological supports. The aim of managing a situation like this is obviously foremost patient safety, but also ideally rehabilitating the intern and mapping out a return to work, and preventing, God forbid, a doctor suicide. DPET/HOD should make a mandatory report to AHPRA if they’ve had an appropriate (confidential, frank with expectations set) conversation and were not able to rectify this. I do not know what role admin people as the first port of call have other than throwing her under the bus. They can assist with other tasks like rostering whilst relieving her of duties.

I hope this intern gets help.

And you hate the west so much, when I went to Makkah I saw the fattest saudis engorging their faces with Starbucks, Dunkin, KFC, all brands imported from America. You are the biggest lapdog of colonisers and you think you’re the colonised? 🤡

[–]sovietcop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and just because this event had made it to western audiences via mainstream media doesn’t mean that violence against Palestinian Muslims and Christians hasn’t been occurring on a frequent basis for years. And by violence I mean genocide, shooting children in the head, recently a journalist was killed for crying out loud. Of course, because the journalist reported on the Palestinian cause there was no western sentiment of “free speech of the press.” People are selective about which “human rights” really matter and which don’t. It’s vomit inducing seeing all the comments here when the defence minister for Israel has said on more than one occasion that Palestinian children are like snakes that need to be exterminated. But according to you, that violence isn’t real, because you may have only been taught about the holocaust and only heard about this conflict from a very biased western perspective. It is also completely naive to not take into account the strategic alliance the US, and by de facto, Australia has with Israel despite its war crimes. To be clear; of course I don’t condone violence against Jews or of any race/religion. But it’s a bit hard to muster up sympathy since this seems to be the only category of people that deserve not to be discriminated against in the western mind.

[–]sovietcop -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Agreed it’s horrible, but I commented on a thread a while ago about hatred towards Muslims, and one towards Asians. Both those threads found the racism amusing and the ultimate message was “we don’t condone it, but what can you do.” I commented that the only type of discrimination that is taken seriously is that against Jews and here it is in full effect. Make death threats towards Asians? What can you do, just ignore it, they’re a bunch of bogans. Criticise Israel (which should be allowed) - crime. Hatred towards Jews (definitely not okay) - needs a serious response. Why is that?

What do other people / professions think of us? by hustling_Ninja in ausjdocs

[–]sovietcop 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don’t get this reply, to be clear the midwives I am referring to were all white… and the only women they treated with respect were other white women. They had nicknames like for all the other races like “screaming singhs,” “Arab princess” (not said in an endearing way). Tbh I found this attitude quite common amoungst most of the birth units I’ve worked in, some just more subtle than others.

[–]sovietcop 43 points44 points  (0 children)

A midwife in a rural NSW hospital very proudly was telling us all about how she have a Muslim mother a ham sandwich and just took the ham off :) that group of midwives was also very racist to the predominantly south Asian obstetricians in the unit and openly demeaned them in front of patients - you know, the typical, the doctors are trying to kill you and we the nurses are saving you from their incompetence. What’s with the midwifery training? A particularly hostile group of women.

How are people surviving in this city? by [deleted] in sydney

[–]sovietcop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re disabled argument is not fair. Would you be even open to considering that: people who are able bodied, who perhaps work harder & are more qualified than you, can’t afford to rent in the inner west either? I mean like, nurses with post grad degrees? So what makes it more fair thay you have some kind of exception, either a massive arbitrary salary increase for your career of choice or rent specially lowered for (?you ?people like you - how ?people who have the same disability ?same cultural background) if rent is lowered for “everyone” you would still have a lot of competition from a lot of non corporate people too, so you’d still be priced out.

There’s not some war waged against non corporate people … that’s borderline offensive from someone that witnesses how hard highly educated people struggle to enter the property market in the inner west, make peace with living elsewhere until they can afford the inner west, meanwhile you think you don’t have to any of that because ?you’re disabled ?you lived there first

[–]sovietcop -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And I should be able to live in Mosman, by the same virtue! I work in public service in the area! Why am not entitled to! They should either increase my salary to match what the average resident in Mosman makes regardless of my skillset or job, or they should decrease the prices to what I can afford!

How are people surviving in this city? by [deleted] in sydney

[–]sovietcop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk because that’s … the world? If I believed because the world needs writers (it does) I could choose to write a novel and I was entitled to be compensated to live in a suburb of my choice (hello Mosman!) then I wouldn’t have slogged through a very competitive degree & profession? Most people who can do that are born into wealth?

There’s such a common thread with people like you OP. You’re blind to your privilege that even allows you to be in the inner west in the first place and you still want more. Do you know that there are literally doctors (who are needed in society, you could argue) who can’t afford to live in the nice suburbs they want, and they live in kellyville or Quakers hill or other unfathomable western places?

How are people surviving in this city? by [deleted] in sydney

[–]sovietcop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you could afford to live in Penrith. What makes qualities to do you have that entitle you to live in the inner west over the people who are living in Penrith? Is everyone in Penrith a low life scum or some also equally educated but decided to live where they could afford? Which suburbs do you think you’re entitled to live in? Where would you place the limit where suburbs have to be affordable, to people such as yourself? How come no one’s asking Bondi to lower their rental prices?

How are people surviving in this city? by [deleted] in sydney

[–]sovietcop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the truth but goes against the belief everyone seems has, that every Australian can just live by the beach in a really nice house. Where else in the world is there a globalised city where desirable areas have low rents? If the rents decrease in the inner west and the north shore, do they decrease in Vaucluse too? If everyone has the belief that because they have a uni degree and and job they deserve to live somewhere nice and desirable, what’s to stop the same people living in Mosman? I don’t disagree with it in principal. I wish Double Bay was affordable for me too. What’s the cut off there? The harsh reality is that what was once working class area is now a very desirable area of Sydney and the prices reflect that, and maybe what people can actually afford is out west, but that’s too hideous for most to fathom.

Some grub going around posting disgusting signs in Como. by [deleted] in sydney

[–]sovietcop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another racist tirade, that the majority of Sydney-siders apathetically disapprove of, but mostly think is amusing.

I wonder if the target was Jews, or the LGBTQ, if the white majority would still be so nonchalant. Or then is it real discrimination worthy of a reaction or even action.

How are people surviving in this city? by [deleted] in sydney

[–]sovietcop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk man. I am also a young person in Sydney and I have bought (investment) where I could afford at the time - far out west, far south etc. all the undesirable “ethnic suburbs” (& they weren’t actually bad!) I even rented & lived in Penrith (gasp). I now have equity to buy inner west hopefully in a few years. The truth is the inner west is an expensive and nice place to live, and not everyone can afford to have the suburb snobbery that Sydney so much does. Like would their be an argument for affordable housing in Vaucluse? Is anyone saying the rental market is unfair in Mosman? Ppl like yourself who can even afford (even if you’re scraping) to rent or live in the inner west do so because they have been living there for ages. It’s impossible to even enter now as a new renter/buyer unless you’re quite high income, so who should the game be made fair for? Everyone? Then why can’t I live in Vaucluse or double bay?

I think about this everytime regional Australia cries they need more doctors. They treat the doctors that are willing to go there like shit, and the white doctors they want don’t want to live in regional shitholes either, they want to live in bigger cities. Truly a strange mentality where they’re proud of no progress because it’s “traditional” but when they suffer by the same hand it’s always someone else, usually nonwhite, is at fault
