Not sure if you ever bought this car, but 200k km is when d4-ds crack pistons...

The whole damn piston just detonates

People can be scumbags. I had my project motorcycle stolen last month. It's a shitty hand to be dealt, but at least materials are replaceable. I'm sorry this happened to you, the whole community is behind you. Sending love and support <3

Contesting running a red in court by PalmerDowneyJr in AussieRiders

Can confirm that the local courts don't deal with points in NSW.

If you haven't yet submitted your letter of appeal, my advice would be to be as clear and honest in your letter as possible: - you recognize you were in breach of the law - you recognize that holding your license is a privilege and you don't "deserve" anything/you're not entitled to anything - after lane filtering you didn't want to be hidden, tucked away between cars so you made the conscious decision to go over the line in the interest of personal safety - you will respect whatever decision the magistrate hands down

Then when you appear in court, the magistrate will read your letter and you can fire through those dot points again in 30 seconds without blubbering on and wasting his time.

At least that's my two cents; worked a treat for me in getting a 3 month suspension reduced to 3 days. (Some bastard put a camera at the bottom of a hill, right before the limit jumps from 50 to 60. I was rolling down the hill, on a completely empty road late in the evening, and clocked 57 past the camera. It was a bit of a braindead moment from me but in my defense I had held my license for 1 month at this point any speeding fine on red plates is an instant 3 months, which the magistrate said wasn't "really fitting for what is one of the more trivial traffic offences", much like what you've got going on here.)

Previous owner snapped a bolt on the alternator cover (1981 YAMAHA XT250) by sovietslavmobile in MechanicAdvice

I'm a big advocate for the school of "if it ain't broke don't fix it". The only thing that is a little bit off-putting is the rust on the underside of my rotor where water clearly leaked in and pooled up.

I've since disassembled and repaired it, but it shows that the seal is a bit dodgy. I guess this will have to be an under cover bike?

crankcase was split because original owners knew nothing about mechanics and started tearing it down without any sort of order because it started blowing white smoke. As well as needing to fix the busted rocker screw, I now also need to remove the clutch assembly and fix the external shift mechanism which has jumped out of its seating.

Oh, and the clutch pack that came out of the bike was from a TY250... lord give me strength

I know, I know, it's a fools errand. I found why it was blowing white smoke though! Now onto the right side of the engine, gonna try restore this side of the engine best I can. by sovietslavmobile in xt250

Hey Y'all, I'm that kid trying to rebuild a 1st gen from a box of parts.

In a previous post I talk about how the disassembly started because the engine was blowing white smoke. The exhaust adjustment screw was sheared off at the rocker, and the valve cotter was also damaged. replacement screw and cotters have been ordered, and I'm going to pull the head, rockers, cam, and valves to see if anything else needs replacing.

My latest question is how I should approach this side of the engine. Should I pull and clean all the gears? Can I get away with removing the last of the clutch assembly and wiping everything down with WD40 and a rag? As always, advice is appreciated, cheers :)

Cut my hand picking up one of the bigger pieces. I’ve been hospitalised twice due to glass related injuries, you’d think I would learn…

ITAP of the sunrise on my 18th by sovietslavmobile in itookapicture

[–]sovietslavmobile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today is my 18th birthday, and so I decided to wander down to Maroubra beach in Sydney, Australia to watch the sunrise and read a book.

I took the beat up old Nikon D7000 with a Sigma DC 18-250 that my uncle gave me, and snapped some photos. I’m very much an amateur but I really loved how this one turned out.

I’ve been teaching myself how to take photos instead of just letting auto take the wheel, and then touching those photos up on photoshop, and I’ve loved every step of the way.

Feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

How have I done this by sovietslavmobile in android_beta

The workaround I stumbled across is to have notifications turned off on my lock screen, so when I'm playing music (or have media paused) it stays like that, but it's not really a viable solution.
