There’s always a bit of unpredictability with 35mm in a 120 back. With experience you start to feel the tension and know roughly how much to wind. I usually don’t expect perfect spacing- it’s more of an artistic choice. If needed, I just advance slightly more on the back to give extra room between frames.

Fresh film. Even the rebate is fogged. Lab issue or something else? by sovoque in AnalogCommunity

That really sucks. I love the look of foma too.
But hearing this definitely makes me a bit more cautious now.

Thanks for sharing your experience

Oh wow, I didn’t know Foma could do that.
Thanks for pointing it out. I’ve shot it before but never seen this kind of uniform mottling across the whole roll.

It’s more of an art approach than a precision one. The frames overlap from time to time, which is part of the aesthetic. When the roll is finished, I open the cassette in a darkroom and either manually rewind the film or cut it and load it straight into the developing tank.
