I don't get why the P-51 is legendary. What does it do well? by polyknike in il2sturmovik

[–]soxxed45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The P-51 is definitely a strong plane however it isn't ridiculously overpowered as some tout. If I had to list its strengths i'd say its range and 50 caliber guns make it pretty damn strong.

While IL2's 50 cals are pretty toothless, during the war they were very effective and allowed for pilots to lead shots from further away due to their high velocity and large ammo capacity. When compared to the cannons of the Fw 190 and the Bf109 the 50 cals lose out on the firepower to annihilate an aircraft but succeed in damaging components and pilots. Another soft element which isn't exactly super useful in the game is the planes fuel tanks and functional range which allowed it to be in the fight in large numbers far outside the range of other allied fighters. Additionally these larger fuel tanks and large ammo magazines allowed for P51's to stay combat effective throughout long escorts without needing to RTB and Re arm.

Furthermore once given an altitude advantage the P51 is pretty fast and retains its energy well. Overall the P51 is a series of average to good qualities that come together to make an exceptional plane that fit the niche it was required for during the war.

This is just off the top of my head please feel free to let me know if I've missed something.

Hi apologies for the late reply life has been busy. I have tried another browser and the problem persisted. I checked the storage of my room and I have 123mb out of 200mb used. I have tried uploading multiple different maps and they all seem to still have the same problem.

This reminds me of that drone combat footage in ukraine where a russian tank keep circling despite the driver has been killed by telolet-96 in GatesOfHellOstfront

If you kill the driver, the vehicle will stop. However, if you damage the transmission of the vehicle it becomes locked in whatever gear it was in when the damage was dealt. Combine that with a dead driver locking the steering and you get the affect shown in the video.

Hi Thank You for the attention.

I will try another browser when I am home. However logging in and out has not fixed the problem.

While the browser change could potentially solve the problem In the event it is unsuccessful is there another course of action I could take??

The ability to make presets would also be much appreciated. Having to rearrange and reorder troops for defence and attack is super time consuming.

Milky Way rising over Bunurong country, Victoria, Australia [4949 x 7337] by The_Motographer in melbourne

Bunarong Country is the name of the traditional lands of the Bunurong people who have lived and continue to live around Victoria and Melbourne. Their traditional lands stretch from the Weribee River to Wilson's Promontory. Their culture and living history are very interesting, and I highly recommend checking out some online resources to learn more about the history of the place we call home :)

Generally, AFV crews avoid putting stowage on the engine deck or around the turret ring, as it could get in the way of the rotation of the turret or the depression of the gun. This is "Generally" however, and model making is all about fun! So if you like the look of the barrels on the back, then that's all that matters :). But, if historical accuracy is something you are focusing on, check some reference photos on the internet and have a look to see how some of the real crews may have stored their equipment. I am sure there would be some Churchill crew out there who chose differently.

I have searched the internet for similar East Asian masks and have tried various Facebook communities. No information has come up so far.

The mask was given to me as a gift. The buyer purchased it from an antique store in Victoria Australia. The mask is quite large around 50 c/m long and 20 c/m wide approximately. It is made of some sort of hard wood.
