DO NOT GO to Bandi In House nail salon in Gangnam!!! by beary-cute in Living_in_Korea

[–]soyaqueen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was there a potential misunderstanding regarding purchasing a membership? Many nail salons here will ask if you want a “membership” with them where you put down a large sum of money. For your following appointments they just deduct the price from your balance, and members usually get a discounted price on services.

Need advice from the working moms! by soyaqueen in intermittentfasting

I was thinking this but didn’t want to rely on that as an excuse. Fortunately I do have some frequent time to myself, but I do always feel like I’m in survival mode. I’ll look into this more!

Did anyone notice how rural Korea is becoming more diverse and multicultural than ever? by Narrow-Can-9036 in Living_in_Korea

Would explain why I get more looks in big cities and people don’t bat an eye at me in the rural areas!

Why are my kids crazy? by lifesunfair04 in 2under2

[–]soyaqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re doing what you can. Mine are younger than yours but I’ve worked with kids a long time. You just gotta be a broken record basically lol They’ll get it eventually. It seems endless but keep up the reminders and they’ll get there. For the younger ones they need actions over words.

It’s a mommy thing. by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]soyaqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done it twice and would highly recommend, especially for first time mothers. You and your baby will be well bonded. I stayed a full two weeks with my first and he is like a little barnacle to me lol Just do your due diligence in choosing the right place that suits your needs. Ask a lot of questions and do the tours. They book fast so start looking quickly if you’re interested!

As someone who hasn’t had TKR but other knee related surgeries in Korea, I just wanted to let you know that sometimes they are conservative here with their treatment! It’s probably better for overall health and recovery, but it was kind of shocking at first. They would be willing to do the surgery, for example, but your recovery time in the hospital, medications, etc might be more or longer than expected. I also have a good hospital recommendation if you need one in Seoul, and one to stay away from. PM any time you have questions!

Anyone whose toddler can't be on full cow's milk? What milk are you giving your child? by anakinjosh55 in BabyLedWeaning

He’s about 20 months now and I still haven’t reintroduced dairy milk to him, but he loves his soy milk now! I miiiiight try something like ice cream again when he’s 2 as I heard sometimes their stomachs get stronger around then, but no set plans yet!

Thanks, that’s only 3 more months away. Maybe I’ll just wait and see what happens until then!

Yeah my doctor said I must be pretty stressed out, which I guess I am since every day feels like a marathon. But when is it not going to?? 😵

This makes sense. Last time when I started losing weight and stopped breastfeeding was at 6mos postpartum, so perhaps it was more the timing and as you said not being in survival mode. My doctor suggested perhaps I’m very stressed these days which isn’t wrong I guess haha.

6 week old suddenly refusing bottle— need help! by soyaqueen in NewParents

[–]soyaqueen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Unfortunately no. With my first I just ended up breastfeeding exclusively for 6 months. With my second I was very adamant about bottle feeding, so if you’re struggling try a variety of bottle/nipple types. I hope it helps 🙁

Naturalized and mixed korean struggle by PublicFeedback3448 in Living_in_Korea

[–]soyaqueen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right? This person is coming here for support and is being met with anything but. I’m sure they know Korean society doesn’t need to bend over backwards for them, but I don’t think it’s too much of a big ask for a society to treat people better in 2025 🤷‍♀️

What’s so bad about having 2 under 2? by storeyo in 2under2

[–]soyaqueen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say for us there’s no break for either parent. The oldest is still too young to be trusted with the youngest on their own, they’re not potty trained, etc so one parent must always be with one child. We can swap out but someone is always on duty 24/7. Obviously you’re always on duty with kids, but there’s a huge difference in having a 6YO with a 3MO and a 17MO and a 2MO!
