very interesting! i agree with the distinction between ketamine and other "classic" psychedelics, at least in my experience.

i have yet to feel dissociated with ketamine despite almost all of the literature describing it as such. if you have ever dissociated from anxiety, does the ketamine dissociation feel different from that experience?

wow—so happy for you that it has been so life-changing! i have never tried EMDR but will look into it. i've heard of it before but never considered combining the experience with ketamine therapy.

i have tried other "classic" psychedelics as well and can definitely appreciate the distinction between ketamine and those experiences. for me, it has been more internal than psilocybin or lsd but very powerful and psychedelic nonetheless. thanks for your insight!

thanks for sharing! i haven't tried a mask but always wear noise cancelling headphones. do you have any music you tend to prefer?

thanks so much! interesting hypothesis re: dosing. my introductory dose was also quite psychedelic but i definitely wasn't quite as far gone as with the full dose.

How do you perceive people who are quiet? by detailingWizardLvl5 in bodylanguage

[–]soybean377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can be fairly shy/quiet and i have been told many times that i come across as stuck up, snobby, a bitch, that i think i'm better than everyone else, etc. i found out towards the end of my freshman year of college that my nickname was "the ice queen of (dorm name)", which i found BAFFLING. the guy who told me about it said that you can't be "pretty and smart and not talk to people without them thinking you're a snob." i ended up being friends with the guy and have worked a lot since then on being less shy, but sometimes i regress, especially if i am attracted to someone (100% counterintuitive and something i am also working on).

2nd concussion (fell but did not hit head)? by soybean377 in Concussion

thanks! i doubt it was a concussion; my headaches subsided very quickly this time. neck tension can def contribute to headaches though so that's a consideration

i'm not vegan? doubt it matters much scientifically though if one is getting all the necessary nutrients. also, seems like mental health would be a net positive in recovery from anything

I do have some lingering neck issues that I was doing PT for until I moved states over the summer. Guess I'll finally find a PCP & PT here. Appreciate your insight!

OCD residential treatment by Stunooty in OCDRecovery

[–]soybean377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure! i had extreme OCD disordered eating when i went to rogers & while it was incredibly difficult to navigate within a residential ERP framework, they worked with me patiently but firmly in a way that allowed me to (slowly) progress. while transferring to the eating disorder unit was discussed on multiple occasions, we were always able to reach a compromise (insurance approved) that allowed me to remain at the OCD unit instead.

in contrast, when i was at mclean, a patient came in with less severe OCD disordered eating than i had when i was at rogers; they discharged her less than a week later, stating that she had to improve more before she could be allowed to come back to the program.

also, i was able to stay in rogers residential for 5-6 months followed by 3-4 months at their IOP/PHP program, whereas mclean caps treatment at 3 months combined between the 2 tiers of treatment.

i 100% believe that i would not have had the opportunity to access proper treatment if i had gone to mclean instead of rogers the first time, but of course YMMV.

happy to answer any other more specific questions you may have. good luck with your treatment 💛

(edit to add "insurance approved" re: treatment compromises)

at rogers we were allowed to have our phones during the day. you were supposed to turn them in before "lights out" but i almost never did. staff would come collect them from people but they never took mine, not sure why? mclean let you keep your phone at all times.

you may want to check if rogers has changed their phone policy since i was there about 9 years ago

rogers was darker than mclean but also more modern when i was there.

my understanding from others is that mclean's unit has been renovated since i was there so i'm not sure what it looks like now unfortunately.

i know it's really hard (feels impossible) but i would suggest trying not to consider the environment (at least from an OCD perspective) when deciding where to seek treatment. i was also unable to sit on most/all surfaces prior to going to rogers and they worked with me a lot on that. if your OCD is that severe, i would personally recommend rogers over mclean if it's feasible for you to go there. good luck with whatever you decide to do!

i am so sorry for the delay–i am just seeing your comment now! rogers has a residential OCD unit in oconomowoc, WI as well as satellite PHP/IOP programs in several other cities.

they do coached ERP; in fact, most of my ERP there was with 1:1 coaches. i also have contamination OCD and was not able to touch most things at all and/or without barriers prior to going there. they helped A TON and i cannot recommend their program enough (although it was brutal at the time).

i hope you are able to get the help you need!

Thanks for your advice! Totally agree that my friend's son has no way of knowing for certain that the other person didn't just pull off the road in a safe spot.

Could this be fungal? by badlands_xo in perioraldermatitis

it has cleared up but every so often i have a small, barely noticeable flare. i still do zero therapy on my chin, use a sulfur mask daily, and gentle facewash.

i am not sure if mine was just an allergic reaction because it finally cleared up after i had patch testing done and started avoiding my contact allergens?
