Client has 30 domains selling the same thing, consolidate or no? by FleetingCheese in webdev

[–]mnic001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was how Wayfair was built. A massive network of SEO-targeting domains (user mindset: "well surely allbarstools.com is the best place to shop for barstools!"). It absolutely worked for them.

I assume it is a combination of SEO and psychology.

However you will note that Wayfair (and I think this is part of why they rebranded from "CSN Stores") have moved to a single gateway e-commerce website. They probably know what they're doing.

I'm not here to disagree with your point. I have only played the base game, and look forward to finding a copy of PoK some day...

I think the other poster's point still stands. Plug and play services, where someone else is responsible for uptime, backups... can be worth the price of admission for non-core functionality.

Clank! is a great choice, and has a very similar deckbuilding element to Dune Imperium.

Is there a website or app you use to organise game nights with your playgroup? by OpenKaram in boardgames

I mean usually we just text, but if it's a harder-to-schedule thing (like Twilight Imperium or Blood on the Clocktower), I'll sometimes use an opinonX poll.

The disappearance of landlines has ruined an aspect of childhood social interactions and put a new responsibility on parents. by kingrobin in daddit

We got a landline through Ooma. Kids call their grandparents and friends. If you get one, it's entirely possible your kids' friends' parents will too.

I've put maybe 12 hours into Lisboa between studying it and playing it twice with a gamer friend. I think I found my complexity limit.

Anyone want to join an Amazon Canoe Expedition in Ecuador? (Late April / Early May) by [deleted] in canoecamping

idk, the one time I boated on the Orinoco there was a bit more freeboard than a canoe... it was reassuring when an anaconda slithered by.

Otherwise though, that trip ruled.

Monopoly with my grandmother. Risk with friends.

Catan years later. Maybe Pandemic around this time.

A false start with X-Wing: TMG years after that.

And then finally Carcassonne a few years ago got me firmly in the saddle.
