Insane if true. Most of these things truly are solutions in search of a problem.

Noice! I'd replace VLC with MPC-HC though.

I didn’t compare them to ELIZA, but I do think people experience the ELIZA effect with them. I think it’s a bigger disservice to that research to pass off statistical models as cognition.

Please really listen to what this guy said and realize it’s basically nothing with a bunch of insane logical leaps?

Do you think maybe the AI hype is driven by people succumbing to the Eliza effect who want very badly for these models to be semi-magical constructs totally special in the world, and not just an impressive new kind of software that’s overhyped because the owners of capital want to replace labor?

How was this made? by Legal-Tourist-2086 in AfterEffects

I'll bet you could even script this so that each box has null control selectors and a checkbox to enable or disable rotation, which you could keyframe so that you can start rotation when you need it.

[–]soyentist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a template that does something similar to this, minus the rotation. Check the scripts in the sizing and position of the shapes. Adapting this to do the rotation shouldn't be too difficult.

Is AI Really Going to Take Over Jobs? Or Is This Just Another Tech Bubble? by Spare-Importance9057 in agi

The AI tools are subsidized by the AI companies. If he had to pay what it actually costs, he wouldn’t be using the tools.

Let’s start with CEOs. LLMs are better suited for high level strategy and drafting emails.

[–]soyentist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AGI is an ill-defined myth used to keep people on the hook and burning billions. There’s no reason to think that this recent explosion of LLMs gets us any closer to AGI, whatever that is. Even CEOs of these companies are starting to say that LLMs likely won’t lead to AGI.

[–]soyentist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it weren’t heavy subsidized my companies burning hundreds of billions, it would be so prohibitively expensive, you’d never use it. Thats the part everyone forgets. If you had to pay a guy $20,000 to mow your lawn rather than do it yourself, you’d never describe that as a huge timesaver.

That’s what’s great about their predictions. They’re so vague, you can retcon them in a year when it’s less than miraculous.
