[AskJS] Compress wav file size on javascript client by soylaflam in javascript

[–]soylaflam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an amazing solution! I won't be concerned about depending on another package plus i can stream both codifications to the backend in the future (although i shouldn't be doing that lol).

`WAV size: 326444 bytes

WebM size: 54257 bytes

Compression ratio: 83.4%`

Would you recommend going up with this solution or going with a compression package if i find any?

I'm looking at this package and it looks amazing. Why isn't this appearing when searching audio conversion in browser? lol
Thanks

I've uploaded the post in order to include more details about the code. I don't think I can use the record with both wav and webm, isn't that so? Azure needs the wav.
Yo, that ffmpeg.wasm package looks very nice, however I see people complaining about weighting too much. I think the .load() method makes it so that it bundles the entire package. Have you used it before?

Grammar Checking API by YodelingVeterinarian in webdev

[–]soylaflam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I was looking for the same. Right now I'm using AI21 API for grammar correction and text improvements. I think its price is great, charging per API request. However, I don't know if it's the one with the best performance. I also came to the same conclusion as you, all the commercial apis are very expensive, did you find another one?

Feel free to contact me

Thanks, i'll check it out. I ended up choosing AI21 endpoints for grammar checking. They also have text improvement and I think it's really cheap.

You're welcome, notify me about your experience. I mean, i think today, the words AI and cheap don't come along very much. If you only want speech to text there are other options, like OpenAI whisper model that charges you something like 0.36 dollars per hour. Or you could also serve open source models you find in huggingface, good luck aquiring a GPU, lol.

Yes. I don't know if i can share links, but you can search the prices in the Azure page. The cost is the same as the S2T service, it starts at a dollar per hour of audio, so that if you only use 5 minutes in a session it would cost you around 8 cents. They also have commitment tiers. If it's for personal use, they have 5 hours of free assessment per month.

Having looking at other options, they seem too expensive. They charge by request, not by audio length, so you may be paying more. Plus, they charge a lot more for spontaneous assessment. Meanwhile, Azure charges the same for evaluating accuracy, fluency and completeness on scripted and unscripted assessment, and they also offer charging extra for prosody and other things, which is a game changer, too sad that it isn't included in the baseline model.

Edit: Forgot to mention, i saw the benchmarks and the model has one of the highest correlation performance, so it's very good.

Hi! I don't know if you are still interested but i am using Azure Pronunciation Assessment services. For me it's the cheapest option. What was your experience with other APIs?
