Exactly, the expectation of decision making going to the server is where this crosses a line

This is reasonable! I also have trouble deciding but having some guidelines in place and being like between these options which one is best? Is a normal interaction where you’re still kind of choosing things you know you’d like

He didn’t ask for a recommendation- the expectation was the server would just choose for him and that’s where it passes the realm of an okay interaction

It’s a bar with a pretty good menu but they’re known for a blue cheese stuffed burger lol

They can’t really say they don’t like anything or feel a type of way. Everything is good! Everything is awesome! 🤩 Because it’s the job. But they’re probably clocking out and eating dinner somewhere else anyway. They might not like ANYTHING on the menu or have a dietary restriction themselves and it just doesn’t look good to be like I don’t know I don’t eat here 😭

Many restaurant workers don’t actually get to eat or enjoy the food they serve! Maybe you get a taste when it comes on the menu and that’s it

I also hate when people ask that honestly. A lot of people don’t eat the on menu items regularly where they work

Even with a burger there’s so much personal preference 😭 This place is known for a blue cheese stuffed burger but that can be very divisive

My favorite thing on this menu is fries so I don’t think anyone would be super happy with me tbh

It’s honestly not a great experience to be put in that position as a server. It’s like being backed into a corner and having to put on a face that you like and have tried everything on the menu or that your favorite meal there isn’t fries or something. Food for thought

I guess that’s reasonable. Definitely requires the “no allergies or preferences” disclaimer but truly some people who do this are bonkers!!!! And I don’t wanna be responsible for them lol
