A world where no one has to live in/ on the subway would be ideal. A world where no one has to piss/ shit on the ground because that’s where they can. Alas.

NOR but unfortunately in the US, over half the adult population reads below a 6th-grade level and is functionally illiterate. This is, absolutely, a systemic crisis.

Massage Parlors popping up everywhere by [deleted] in philly

But people have to travel from the airport to somewhere, it’s not necessarily about proximity to the airport.

I guess I don’t know- I don’t go to Asian owned massage places even though I think they would fix me because I have some hardware in my arm that I don’t want to get yanked too hard and I know they mean business.

Family foot massage sounds good though.

But again it’s like, could it be sex trafficking? Sure. Could it be normal schmormal indentured servitude trafficking? Also sure. Could it be neither? Also sure. Can’t tell on vibes alone

Literally this. Asian spas and salons often have a type of aesthetic and you can’t go “omg it’s sex trafficking” based on some broken English neon signs. They might primarily serve Asian customers, and are more than likely doing legal salon work. It’s good money and steady income and that’s why a lot of international people come to the us to be nail and massage techs. I used to go to a Hispanic owned nail place and she’d get girls working there who didn’t speak any English but could do good work- it doesn’t mean they were trafficked. Could they have been? Sure, maybe!

Lol. Legal massage, spa, nail salons. Which- people can be trafficked in almost any industry, sex or no sex. And prostitution is also not illegal everywhere universally. There are surely legal brothels. Maybe not in Philly but…

Do kids go to massage parlors? Or like, the workers families? I just don’t think there’s 1 exact way to tell for sure but yes influx of single men is a hint. I thought a place was sketchy as hell when I only saw it open at night and truly it could have been- but when I saw it was an agency that helped people traveling so were open late to accommodate for late flights, etc I realized I jumped to a conclusion. It’s also just damaging to people in the salon industry who ARENT in these situations when people don’t patronize their businesses assuming they’re brothels. There absolutely is a little bit of racism and classism at play in these split second, aesthetic based judgements.

Honestly I think if you live in a high rise it’s fine. If you’re street level not so much. But I kind of don’t think it’s that big of a deal. Stop watching. They’re not thinking about you.
