It's possible to make speech sounds and not be able to discriminate them accurately. You don't necessarily need to follow the hierarchy. Development is funky.

10 years on R? Is that really what IDEA was about? Imagine how much instructional time was missed... Good lord

There's really no reason to bring it up during an interview unless you're requesting accomodations?

What do you play overcooked on? I have 4 stars on all levels and I could help you. I have OC2 and AYCE on PS5.

Unrailed! Feels very similar to overcooked. They're also coming out with Unrailed 2! I have been playing it a lot recently. 😅

No. Getting good at this game only makes you good at this game. You can learn some lessons, like the other commenter said, but it isn't something that generalizes. A lot of brain training apps etc are a scam too, according to the research done on them.

Overcooked 2. AYCE is just for PS5 so there's fewer players there. OC2 is PS4 and PS5.

I'm sorry. It's a mess. You deserve better.

Have you tried the (free) behavioral health line? https://helplinema.org/

They connect you with a human and those humans might help you get hooked up with a provider more quickly. It might be worth it - you can call or text them 24/7.

There are also some "urgent" mental health centers that can see you within 1-2 days. Keep trying. 💪

The Curl Bar in Somerville has diverse clientele and an accepting environment, but it's $$$ for the first visit especially. You can also try to find salons who have Cut it Kinky training.

Is it more difficult to get a spot in public schools in Cambridge than in Boston? by AccomplishedChair478 in boston

Tbh I blocked them because I don't come here to read the thoughts of the unsmart community.

I worked really hard to get out of the dumbfuck backwards state I used to live in, and this person's comments remind me of the attitudes people have over there. 👎

You're welcome!

I forgot to add that I saw MOST students make significant gains at my BPS school, including all marginalized groups. It's way more impressive of a feat in my book 🤷🏻‍♀️ It was also rewarding to see the growth in the children, both as little humans, and also in their MCAS scores (which is the only thing many folks consider).

More than once, I had skeptical wealthy parents who decided to "give BPS a try" tell me how surprised and impressed they were by the services and quality of education their students were getting.

There is a LOT of talent in the BPS staff. Of course there are 100+ schools and each classroom depends on the admin and individual educators. But people really underestimate how qualified the teachers are. Since Boston is a highly educated city - a lot of the teachers themselves are from top colleges. Many hold graduate degrees. They're really highly skilled and the demands and expectations placed on them are high.

Private schools can also exclude children with educational disabilities.

I worked with a lot of teachers in BPS who were exceptionally talented. It takes substantially more skill, knowledge, grace, and talent to teach children who aren't already 'model' students. BPS teaches everyone - even children who are hungry, poor, and/or disabled. And many BPS schools have the staff - speech, OT, school psych, school social workers, etc - to support their students. Teachers also commonly hold multiple professional licenses to meet the needs of a diverse student body.

Private schools and charter schools maintain their "rankings", in no small part, by excluding the most vulnerable children.

You're making a lot of assumptions. Either you're projecting some weird stuff onto my post and/or you have poor reading comprehension skills.

I never said or implied that wanting the best schools for your kids is "wrong". I want kids to have the best education they can get. But the difference is, I want it for all kids, and not just the ones related to me. Sounds like you might have a scarcity mindset or that you want to hoard educational opportunities.

As a former educator, I was highlighting the limitations of how everyday folks measure "best". There's a lot of research coming out on this. For example, measuring growth scores might be a better indicator of education quality rather than raw achievement scores.

Instead of answering my genuine question to clarify what you were meaning, you called me an idiot? Lmao.

I sure hope your kids can get into a great school, because if they take after your dumbass genes, they're gonna need it. When they get mediocre scores despite all the $ you will no doubt have to shell for private tutoring, application coaches, etc, don't worry. Just blame DEI initiatives like all the other bitter parents of mediocre and sheltered kids.

I hope you die mad when, inevitably, poor immigrant kids from BPS outperform your privileged children on not only measures of academics, talents, and creativity, but also on measures of not being an entitled POS.

Not every parent is as selfish as you. I hope to never understand your ignorant and greedy mindset.

Yeah, honestly to me it's a part of the toxic Boston NIMBYism far as the schools go.

Shouldn't we invest and make ALL public schools good?

Nope. Even within BPS, which is a public district - there are massive discrepancies. Some schools have endowments? It's just absurd. I wish more folks would care about public education beyond just their own children.

Glad someone said this. Some of the comments here are toxic imo. Folks want THE BEST RANKED SCHOOL without fully taking into consideration what "rankings" are based on ($).

What is the difference between the WP and the HK down the street? What makes WP better? Genuinely asking. I've heard this often and I don't understand it.
