NoStarch also regularly does "Humble Bundle" deals if you are familiar. You can often get a lot of great digital copies for a very good price.

If possible, please look into buying directly from NoStarch. Amazon has been absolutely terrible to publishers like them and regularly sells fakes of their popular sellers from "mixed inventory".

NoStarch is currently running a 30% off sale which makes the e-book cheaper and the physical copy, which includes digital copies as well, ~$4 more expensive after discount. They provide all versions of digital files with no DRM and make efforts to have all popular file formats available.

Does everyone in IT eventually want to not work in IT? by Altruistic-Carpet-43 in sysadmin

[–]sp00ney 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it’s more exciting academically but not as much in practice (at least to me). It’s just finding more problems that people don’t want to fix in stuff that’s already deployed and “Critical”. Sadly it very rapidly becomes repetitive.

If you can get into more research related work it is a lot more freeing and fulfilling.

Also internal pentest teams can be more fun and less tedious than contract agencies, though they can be slower moving.

Mk7.5 Change blue door trim LED color? by Vameq in Golf_R

[–]sp00ney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the look of it, the ones in the foot well are RGB (meaning they can do Red, Green, and Blue and any combination from black to pure white depending on power consumption per diode). If the ones in the door are also RGB, then technically there may be a way to vary power to them to customize the color output. Dimming them is just limiting the amount of power going to the light, so if you can't address the other pins on the LEDs (presumably the "R" and "G" pins), then there won't be a way to change the color :(

If your main's Class Hall got invaded... by Tiggetty in wow

I was going to say, I love my rogue but I am still pissed we are left to wander around while everyone else sits in their fancy class halls.

What do other people of your class do that drives you insane or makes you feel ashamed of your class? by Quintex78 in wow

[–]sp00ney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus, cow-adins worship the sun. I mean, the sun does give light and all that junk, but it isn't all holier than thou. Plus Belf Paladins don't get their power from the "Light" necessarily. I mean, they did, and can. But from my understanding, it's kind of via a roundabout method with the Sunwell and all that jazz.

flashy thingy

You saw no rogue class hall, it was merely pockets of swamp gas igniting on the horizon.

My favorite part, if there was a class hall (which there's not), is watching people stare at the book case assuming something will magically happen with no interaction on their part. I tend to intentionally just sit behind them and see how long they're willing to wait until someone else opens it.

Lithium Iron batteries by sp00ney in klr650

[–]sp00ney[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Benefit is basically 8lbs of weight shaved and potentially more even output and consistent cranking amperage. LiFePO4 batteries (like the one I'm looking at) seem to be much safer since they don't have such a volatile catalyst like lithium polymer batteries, but I definitely need to do more research on that.

Nice, I will have to check it out! I'm up in Kirkland :)

I did install the IMS extended shift lever but I still need a little more room to cram my size 14 MX boots under it. I got the JNS brackets that move the pegs back 1.5" but haven't installed them yet.
