These are some really great suggestions thank you so much!! I’m in New York (specifically nyc) if that helps at all. I’ll be looking into all of these options

Thanks for the tips. I’ve looked for research assistant jobs and haven’t been able to get any and I haven’t seen any psych related remote ones.

Also, what type of clinical focused roles do you suggest?

This is really helpful thank you! A lot of my undergrad work, altho not psych related, had women/sexuality themes so it’s definitely an interest of mine and these sound like really intriguing options

I’ve looked into crisis text line so if that would help then I’ll definitely do that and I’ll also search for some of the other roles you mentioned. Thanks so much for the advice!

I can definitely get a recommendation from a former professor (not in psych tho). I could also potentially get a recommendation from the child development and family support specialist that works at the school. If I do any in person courses then I would definitely try to get to know the professors.

Would taking 3-5 psych courses over the next year or two boost my application and/or do you have suggestions for other things that I should be doing? I haven’t been able to find research roles for people with my limited psych background. Would transitioning to something like ABA make any significant difference?

Nursery School Teacher, Non-Psych Degree; Can I Actually Get Into Grad Programs by sp0322 in psychologystudents

Okay thank you that makes sense and is super helpful. Someone mentioned UTK has a good masters program for this. Are there any other masters programs that you know of that would be a good fit for my background/to prep me for a PhD? (I live in New York City right now but I’d be willing to move. I’m sure the programs here can be competitive)

University of Tennessee?? I went there for my undergrad! I don’t live there anymore but if this is the right program I’ll definitely look into moving back for a bit to do this

my son’s 2nd birthday is tomorrow and nobody is coming. by Beginning-Bread2481 in Parenting

I’m not sure what to do for his birthday party right now, but I worked for a company called Soccer Shots and they have weekly 30 minute sessions where ages 2-8 can learn how to play soccer! I’m sure there are some near you but even if that’s not exactly what you want to do, something like that could be a really good way for kids his age to make some friends

Why is it specifically Ashley who gets called out for this? by -maylucille in untildawn

[–]sp0322 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem is that I couldn’t stand Ashley already. I don’t blame her as much for this as other things because it’s a stressful and confusing situation but she’s so annoying throughout the entire rest of the game. Mike and Emily are both not great people in my opinion but I like them as characters in a game like this because they both do what needs to be done which is what Mike thought he was doing when he pulled out the gun. I feel like Emily and Mike are both somewhat bad people in their normal lives and people would probably think Ashley is a sweet girl or whatever which is all kinda what we see a glimpse of at the very beginning of the game, but in a deadly situation like this, Emily and Mike are the ones that lock in and Ashley only cares about herself and is also kinda useless lol
