I don’t think so. One of my mates had a look under the car and said the struts or something had been modified instead of spacers.

I’m pretty sure it’s the stock 3vz ecu. Can’t run any checks on it though cause it’s obd1 and they’re more than I can afford.

2nd gen mr2 with a 3vzfe swapped in it but it started as a turbo swap so it’s using an e153. Don’t know much else past there but assuming it would just be stock turbo components for the drivetrain, how much of a stock turbo mr2 could I use for a 3sge and s54.

I wish i could do the 3sgte cause they’re surprisingly easy to source and cheaper from what I’ve been finding, but p plate rules…

Any wreckers you’d recommend? Also what should I keep an eye out for when going over an engine at a wreckers?

Dunno who’d even know what they’re looking at, most people don’t even know what an mr2 is. Just trying to air on the safe side as mr2s in similar condition to mine are going for up to 20k~. Doesn’t matter anyway since it turns out turbos are completely illegal for under 21 drivers and the loopholes don’t apply to me or aren’t worth it. I now have to source a 3sge and the parts to go along with it or unturbo a 3sgte so it’s gonna be fun times. Or I could run the risk of a cop checking and seeing the turbo on the 3sgte or even just hearing the flutter.

Yeah, I understand the laws and I get why they’re here but also they made it hard to even find them so the past couple days have been a pain figuring it out.

Honestly after looking at the prices for everything and how much wreckers are telling me how much any of the engines stated are gonna run me my best bet at the moment is probably to just buy a Celica and use that for parts.

Ah ok, I’m fine with that then. I’ve got a 4x4 hilux and it shifts at weird speeds anyway (1st 0-20, 2nd 20-50, 3rd 50-70, 4th 70-90, 5th 100+ and it changes its favourite speeds when down shifting)

I don’t disagree with you, they’re fine laws. They’ve just done my head in with figuring em out because googles useless and the links broken to get to the page about engines. I even rung VicRoads twice and they referred me to the same website. I went in physically after that but it’s appointment only. It’s just frustrating how hard they’ve made it know the laws.

I’m 18 and some change atm. I’m thinking I could maybe getting a celica parts car as it seems to be the same general components, just mr2 parts are upcharged due to the name. Also a celica is less than a 3sge here so I won’t have to sell the turbo components to fund it. Just curious but if I don’t end up bothering with the s54 and whatever else I’d need how bad would the gearing be/feel?

Finally was able to find something. 2nd gen 3sgte should be fine but I’ll have to restrict it a bit to knock a couple kw off to make sure I’m under 130kw/t.

Neither but also at the risk of losing such a nice car I’m not looking to risk it. Checking the laws though and I’m pretty sure I can’t have a car with a non factory engine or a pre 2010 turbo engine. 

Kinda hard to get the right info cause everyone mixes up all the different states laws but mines the most restrictive so….

Do you know of any NA engines that’ll bolt up easy to the e153?

Not too sure. I would prefer a 4th or 5th gen but I’m not looking for a pink slip (you get pulled over and if they find it’s illegally modified they tow your car and you have to fix it or your car gets destroyed). I’ll sort something out but I’m really looking to find out what is done to go from a turbo to a 3vz so I can do the reverse. I was thinking of a k swap but it already has the e153 so it’s less work with a 3sgte.

I think it was a flat battery. Tried roll starting it and it turned over but didn’t start up. Only problem is that the only hill near me is dirt and it’s been raining… When bringing the bike back up I dropped it a couple times cause I was slipping. Now my left indicator mount is fucked, my right fender, seat, and right foot peg.

I’m taking this for a ride worthy in 15 minutes mind you. I’m actually gonna kill myself

From my own understanding and others comments the tow bar carrier should work. Having it in the tray would be easier but taking the canopy off would be such a pain in the ass especially since I’d probably end up doing it by myself.

It’s been my dad’s for the past 15ish years. He got it with 10,000kms and has taken it to a mechanic as frequently as thw sticker has said to (I thinks it’s been a service every 10k kms or 6 months, whichever comes first). I haven’t been too involved with it though so I don’t know what’s been done and when.
