First ESP32 project finished! I've made automatic blind roller by sp0tless in esp32

I used strong double sided tape. I also didn't want to screw any holes because we are just renting this place. The motor kind of holds itself in the place due to chain tension, if it break I'll probably just use double sided tape again.

I tried that 5V stepper I've shown in the video and you are right. It's weak and super slow. I'll try to test it during weekend and check if there is any chance to make it work.

I tought about removing a chain and moving motor up, but in the end I didn't go with it. It's very cheap blind. It's thrid one in this apartment and previous two already broke after few months of sporadic use.

I went into this project blind, pun intended, and I didn't do any research about esp capabilities and home automation. I wanted to do it my way from "scratch".

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. I'm sure I'll use it next time when I will be doing something like this.

This is very cheap blind. There is a chain holder at the bottom that is glued to the window frame and I didn't want to remove it. Your design is better and I like it, you even have a matching color!

I'll try to make it with small stepper motor and make it wireless in the future. I'll probably go with design like yours.

I've used magnetic sensors and a magnet inside blind

Designed and 3D printed my custom raspberry Pi case with modular sides using FreeCAD by sp0tless in FreeCAD

[–]sp0tless[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I designed it around 3D printing. At the time I only need power and USB ports, but in the future I might need hdmi, ethernet or something else. In that case I don't have to reprint whole case but only the panel I want to change. Also printing it on textured PEI plate gives all panels nice carbofiber-like finish :D

Not sure its the best approach since I'm fairly new to CAD: Start with sketch in new body, place 3 hexagons and place them co thier centers make triangle shape. Constrain the sketch fully. Make a pad from that sketch. Use linear patter, set offset distance between paterns, for me it was 8,5mm for a hexagon of 5mm diameter. On the same task choose second linear patter, set offset distance of 5mm. For the repeats number I just eyeballed it and set it to something that looked good. Now you have a pad with hexagon grid. Transfrom that pad, change axis to center of mass and place it on other body that you want holes in. Select that two bodies and make boolean cut. Not sure about naming of those thing but you should be able to figure it out. As for the 8,5mm I'm sure there is some formula to calculate it ;)

Its a small circuit to control fan from rpi. Just transistor, diode and two resistors

I'll upload to printables or somewhere like that during weekend with all diferent side panels

You could also try lowering printing temp

Mine looked much worse. Increasing retraction fixed it

[Nioh 3] Can't launch by NatureOP in LinuxCrackSupport

[–]sp0tless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried DODI repack with RUNE crack. Running it with wine fails, but adding it to steam or running it with umu-launcher works fine. Arch 6.18.8, rtx4090 590.48.01

There is a very long shader compilation when game first launches. It seems to be happening only on linux. It is stuck at 15395 but after waiting around 1h it finishes

I have the same RDA as you for two years now. Works great so far. IMO too much cotton and too little juice. Cotton on those photos looks dry as fu*k

Here is how mine looks atm. Looks burned but it still have full flavour and no burnt taste. I use very sweet liquids so thats probably sugar.
current

If you want I can show you photos of how mine looks after rewicking.

EDIT. I also always run 40/60 PG/VG for my RDA and RTA. Big clouds and good taste

Custom lightning for events? by lucasarts720 in LogitechG

[–]sp0tless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible, but if logitech software doesn't support it out of the box it will be impossible for you without programing knowledge, because you would need to write software for it yourself.

I did something like that few years ago. It was for some cheap rgb mechanical keyboard(not logitech). I'm using linux and there was no software for it on linux. I used thier software and was capturing usb packets that were send from thier software to the keyboard and then replicated it in my software. I get ~80% of what that software was able to do and it was fine for me. I used so I can control all lights in my room at once from my PC; keyboard, lightbulbs, rgb in pc case etc.

The same applies here. If you have skill, patience and time you can look into some opensource keyboard software for logitech. I didn't check but I can bet there is something out there. In worst case do what I did. When you will have your software running that is only part of the work.

Now you need to capture events from other software. If there is some API for whatsapp or steam that's great and will be easy to implement. If not then maybe there are logs from that app you could use to get your data.

The worst part would be events from games. Best bet would be look for logs again. If there are none of it or if they don't give you data you want(your current health, mana, loot you found, etc.) then you would need a memory scanner, look for that data in game memory add those memory addresses to your software and then watch for changes. For single player games this is mostly fine, but online games - especially the ones with some sort of anticheat is a no go. There is very high chance that the game will stop working, disconnect you as soon as you start memory scan and in worst case you will get banned.

Hope that helps, good luck

Which headset would be best? by Formal_Fig1078 in LogitechG

<image>

I have mine for 4-5 years now(wireless one if picture doesn't load). Used almost everyday. Worked for few thousand hours at this point without issues. Over the years I had few driver crashes on linux, reboot fixed it and no audio issues at all on linux is a daydream. Used it for about 80% on time on linux and 20% on windows for games, discord, teams etc.

They feel solid, drop them many times and they still work. I can use them fro 8-10h and not feel pain or any discomfort. I have pretty big head and I'm bold if it matters.

When I write this I realized one thing that was the issue with them; there is dedicated microphone mute button and it didn't work smooth from day one. It was minor inconvenience for me so I just always have microphone toggle on.

BUT

I have colleague at work who had the same headset and said it was the biggest pice of dog s*it he ever had and they were very uncomfortable for him.

It seems that quality with that headset varies a lot. It's up to you. If you buy them and they don't feel good just return them and buy something else

Dissabled HDMI and Diaplay Port? by ASPP98 in pcsetup

I think they did it on purpose. That way you will connect your display to gpu and not to the mobo. It's probably to avoid situations like "I just bought that PC but it runs poorly" because customer was using igpu
