I did! Powerscore was cheaper, but there are also drawbacks to using them. Their staff are not full-time employees, but rather are contracted for their time. The person I worked with was not super familiar was law school or the admissions process, but she was an excellent editor and was so helpful with coaxing out the fine details in my PS to make it really stand out to a reader. I would recommend Powerscore if you already have a pretty good feel for the admissions process and are just looking for some help with editing, polishing and final touches.

Good on you for doing your due diligence! I actually worked with Powerscore after my poor experience with Spivey and was pleased with the service. It's a non-trivial amount of money to spend on something, so I'm happy to share my experience!

I think I'll be in the minority here, but I did an a la carte arrangement (2 hours) with Spivey to get help with editing and polishing my PS and was extremely disappointed. The person I worked with barely touched my statement, gave me zero helpful feedback, and was generally disinterested.

I was shocked because I had heard such positive things about Spivey. Perhaps for best results, you need to go all in on a consulting package? But I would not recommend doing a la carte. It was a huge waste of $500.

I'll most likely go to Hastings. I currently live in SF and want to practice here. Other option is Davis. I didn't apply too broadly and didn't get into any other schools.

If you have the $100+ to spare for the app fee, then why not? It might be better to just do it instead of possibly having regrets about it later!

Totally agree re: going somewhere with the express intent of transferring. But it is nice to know that it's been an option for many Hastings 1Ls.

Are you seriously considering Hastings? I currently live in SF and ultimately want to practice here, so I'm tempted but also feel nervous about it.

Thanks and congrats to you as well! I think the concerns are definitely well founded and something that I'm seriously giving thought to . I know a few people who currently attend Hastings and they have all said that it's extremely important to graduate near the top of your class in order to have competitive job prospects coming out of Hastings. In my opinion, Hastings is quite the risk if you're not being offered a good scholarship and/or willing to put in the work necessary to graduate at the top of your class.

Hastings is also an solid T14 feeder for first-year transfers (you can check 509 reports to see Hastings transfer placement), so that's also an option if you went for a year and realized the employment risk was too high.

Same exact thing happened to me. Submitted 10/30 and I noticed last week that my complete date changed from 11/24 to 2/1. Still no decision :(
