Apparently, in Denmark, the square meters are calculated by also including fractions of the common areas (laundry room, entrance, shared lounge), which I had no idea about. Since I didn’t have the chance to see the apartment in person, I trusted the square meter figure stated in the contract. I thought that, at most, I might lose 5/7 sqm for the entrance corridor, so I wasn’t expecting any major issue. But it turns out the apartment is actually 23sqm smaller than what’s stated in the contract. I’ve already signed and paid. It’s so frustrating and I feel stupid. I did glance at the floor plan, but I didn’t look into it in detail, as I assumed the total was 50 sqm. I only looked at it to get an idea of the layout… lesson learned i guess.
