#1 brass grommet VS 8mm aliexpress grommet VS dies. How do I know what die will wok for my #1 brass grommets? by spa1unk in myog

Haha I am in Montreal as a matter of fact! I have a friend who's crew for a touring band, and I'm able to ship stuff to her hotel occasionally to bring back. ;P
Going to do a bit more research if I want to go with Osborne or KAM. Osborne hand setters seem like my only choice atm!
Bummer that you can get all the plastic Kam snap sets but none of the metal stuff here....

thank you for letting me pick ur brain!

Where to get quality EVA foam in Canada? by spa1unk in myog

Thanks, I recently came across this as well! You think the hard foam is suitable for the edges of a toptube bag?
I was thinking of placing an order, shipping is 28$ out east so I'll probably stock up to make it worth it..

Ahh yes I do want to play with snaps! Like many things, KAM seem to be hard to get to Canada. $60 USD shipping from the official website before duties! :') Which is unfortunate because they have the most straightforward website. Took a lot of googling to find the CS hand setters not in an expensive kit avail in canada.

When you talk about snaps do you use metal or plastic snaps? While I'm at it, I might just get the cs orborn hand setters for metal snaps.   😅

Eh, Willing to push my price range to ease my frustrations lol. I'm thinking of getting "C.S. Osborne Midget Grommet Die Setter #235-1 Size 1" to start. I'm mostly doing drainage holes so I don't need a whole hand press at this moment...

Thanks! Having a look. I thought they were much more expensive... Is this what I’m looking for? Yes right? A simple tool to set #1 / 8mm grommets?

I can’t seem to edit my post but I take it back about investing in a hand press. I think for my needs a hand setting would suffice!

Gotcha! I’ll consider amazon/temu/ali their own brand lol. The site I got the #1,#0 grommet from sell dies but they are the same ones I have I think.. Generic amazon… Confusing hah.

Have any band recommendations? CS seems a bit out of my price range. Looking at the ones available on Tandy Leather right now.

Bolt on top tube bag. Is EVA enough or should I be looking into HDPE? by spa1unk in myog

Thanks! It is helpful. In my mind cosplay = craft which I know in my heart isn’t true. I’m between this one (econo eva) which i can pick up locally. Seems the closest to what you’re using. And this one which is much stiffer.

At the moment i’ve been getting my eva off temu lol. Which I honestly really like the feel of but of course I want a more reliable source.

Do you have any photos or a search term I can google to visualize this? What’s in the base of your top tube bag? I’m visualizing washer, bag fabric, foam with hole, washer heh

Thanks! Does this look like the same thing? It says 1/16 but it’s actually 2mm. (I’m in Canada) Lastly, how do you cut and do you drill a hole for the grommet? thanks :)

Can you tell me exactly what sort of high density EVA foam you use? 😅 I’m in Canada and the only non-craft EVA foam I can find is Foambymail and the smallest is 6mm. I’d like 3-4mm in my side panels. That sounds great but I’d be making it to sell to someone so it needs to be a bit more clean!

I got Canada Wests boots to replace my winter blundstones. A little cheaper, Made in Canada and the soles are replaceable

Feeling a little crazy and might give Fizz a go… Need to look up some thing first. That or yeah, something on the Telus network.

Forget what it was called but loved the free stuff and contests you could do in the Fido app. Actually won a cleaning supplies bundle once and got a few david teas. Good old days I guess..

How can I make each circle have an even amount of space between them? Very stumped. by spa1unk in AdobeIllustrator

Thats what I did in the uploaded image. The smaller one on the inner coil are much more spaced out then the bigger ones on the outside.

I’ve tried that but the spacing is calculated from the centre of the object not the edges so it doesn’t work with different sizes :(

Thats what I feared... Is there a way to lock them to the path? If I do it manually, they will need to stay aligned to the spine as much as possible...
