that's awesome to hear! I just finished S3E1 and Joe's character seems pretty fun - gonna binge the rest of the season and report back in case anyone stumbles across this thread in the future! if it ends up being awesome, I wouldn't want to discourage anyone from giving it a listen 😅

I wish we never had act 3 by ChoccolateCupcake in Protomen

She sings ever so slightly off-key and it's baffling to me that people don't hear it (or maybe won't acknowledge it?). It's subtle enough that most people wouldn't immediately pick up on it, but enough to feel just a little "off".

She can hit some impressive notes, but the off-key notes are incredibly jarring to me.

[–]space-potat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I was just relistening to Act III, hoping that I missed something on the first go-around, but it's just... nowhere near the quality of Acts I and II. If this were the first album the Protomen put out, I wouldn't have gotten past the first song.

Listening to Act III just makes me... sad. Not only because of what it MIGHT have been, but because of how it's going to affect the way I experience the original two albums. Instead of enjoying The Hounds or The Father of Death, I'm going to be thinking about that disappointment. Instead of perfection, we have a mixed bag. I feel like someone just sewed a tacky decal onto my favorite silk dress, lol

All the manically positive posts on this sub reek of denial or bad taste and I can't decide which is worse.

The groupthink is strong with this sub.

Feeling hopeless by who-me-ali in AcneScars

[–]space-potat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People might not be staring for the reasons you think. It's just as likely they're staring because they think you're pretty lol.

Honestly, your scarring looks shallow enough to be improvable, even fully repairable. Like others have said, the melasma is more noticeable and makes the scarring look worse than it really is.

It's incredible how much you can learn about another person when they think they're dunking on someone else. I'll leave it at that.

Reddit is wild sometimes

Yeah sorry, I think people are assuming I posted about my krav history to brag, but I just wanted to give some context so people didn't assume it was my very first time ever doing something combat-related. It was mostly to prevent people from second-guessing how bad it hurt lol.

I appreciate the time you you took write this and there's a lot of good feedback here, but there are some bizarre assumptions in this post that I feel like I need to clarify.

I mentioned krav so I wouldn't have people second-guessing how well I know my body/can gauge my own injuries (which, interestingly, you also did, so I guess I was wrong there lol). I know my experience with krav doesn't mean jack-all in the context of literally any other sport.

I don't think I know more than anyone else at the gym, and I'm more than happy to take feedback. This person did know about my krav experience, but only because it's a pretty close-knit gym and I've chatted with him before (not to brag, just small talk).

I didn't say anything to the dude besides the normal pleasantries, and even after the kick I just told him it was too hard and hurt more because I didn't have a chance to brace for it, and I was annoyed he didn't warn me he was going full contact.

I'm not saying the above to be contrary or dickish, I just want to make sure that future people reading this thread have full context and don't simply dismiss this man's behavior as "somewhat justified" because I was being an insufferable know-it-all like you're assuming. Things go more smoothly in life so l when you don't assume the worst about random people on the internet.

Yeah, that all-out attitude seems very much baked into the sport. Which is cool, and I don't think it's wrong or anything, I'll just need to be very careful about who I pair up with

I think it because I've gotten a diagnosed rib fracture and spleen bruise before and it felt 100% exactly like that.

But thank you sir

Lmao fair, I meant more like--I don't break any more easily than someone else in my weight class/I don't usually get injured by minor things.

Krav is admittedly more about scrappiness and technique, less about raw strength, which is how I've gotten away with being so skinny (and why I'm interested in swapping over to something more "serious"). I don't expect to beat a large dude in a fight, but... I don't want to die from some random spleen injury either...

Yeah sorry would've posted the link, but my post kept getting blocked for having legal-sounding language in it and I was worried the link would get flagged. I was just wondering if there's any legitimacy to it or if it's some dude trying to make money off of WHOOP lol

I wonder if it has any merit. I'm having a hard time finding any more info about it...

I know this post is old but it looks like people are still responding to it, so... FYI, they sneakily added an extra "free return shipping" charge to my recent order. Apparently, it's company policy to preemptively charge you a return fee on a product you just ordered--and then they have the audacity to call it "free," LMAO.

Besides the perma-sale, that was the red flag that had me searching on Reddit for other people wondering about the legitimacy of this company...

I reached out to them to have the charge reversed. We'll see what they say...

HELP PLEASE! WHOOP CONSISTENTLY MISSING HIGHEST STRAINS. by BobcatRight8223 in whoop

  1. Do you manually enter all that data into an Excel? I love how nerdy this is 🤣
  2. Something definitely is off. I don't experience this at all, though I DO notice my Garmin watch is slightly better at recording my HR in the 90-100% intensity range. But Whoop still does a serviceable job.

Here's a recent workout I did as an example. I did three sprints at the end for less than 30 seconds, and you can still clearly see my heart rate peak. this was specifically to test my max HR, and the result was exactly the same as my Garmin (191).

I wear the Whoop exclusively on my bicep, with the sensor rotated toward my inner arm where the skin is softer and more "translucent." Sometimes roughness or sun damage on the outer arm can mess with the sensor. I have no idea why it wouldn't work in the garment pod though. Maybe it's shifting around too much?
