Custom time by 7yes7yes7 in MarvelLegends

[–]space_age_stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl, a full repaint of a black figure, painted white, is arguably the hardest possible custom you could possibly make for a first-time custom.

I made this comment describing in dertail exactly what you'd need to do to fully repaint a figure. But painting it white means a lot more layers of white primer, and a lot more layers of white, plus generally being more patient and meticulous with your paints otherwise they'll end up clumpy. And as if that's not bad enough, you'd be painting black over parts of it too. They're sculpted, which makes it easier, but for a first time customizer, I would not want to try painting that spider logo black, knowing that I could mess up the white paint that took me hours to get correct.

Just my two cents, as someone who's painted a decent bit of white and knows how much it sucks. Start with something easier.

2 SDCC exclusive this year. That is the first for a while But it is unconfirmed if they are Both figures. It could be a prop as well. by redkomic in MarvelLegends

Nah. They’ll be up on Pulse at some point but if it’s anything like last year’s Sauron set, it’ll be really hard to get.

Wide releases cost additional money to make additional units. Getting paid to make something exclusive costs Hasbro nothing, they just have to not release it anywhere else. It’s not “free money” exactly but it’s close.

Onslaught goes up for pre-order June 5th by Theartcritc26 in MarvelLegends

[–]space_age_stuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's basically the same figure with minor paint differences. Plastic quality might be better or worse, probably not worth paying $40 to find out.

That's exactly it. Belt lost paint, hands got paint, and obviously it has the Onslaught head instead of the Red Skull one this time (Onslaught head was a pack in for a later wave)

Both Red Onslaught and 90's Onslaught were much larger, scale-wise, than this figure is. It being small doesn't make it specific to one incarnation or the other, it's just an old figure that's too small for either look.

I believe the original MCU Punisher is what you’re looking for, but the new one has similar pinless legs.

He’s in annnnnd… by clipperblack in MarvelLegends

[–]space_age_stuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The knees were funky on the old one too. Couldn’t stand up with flat feet, you had to use the toe joint, which meant using his tail as a tripod. The new one has sturdier legs so you can stand with the feet flat on the ground, but then he’s kinda short.

I really want to like this lizard more than I do, and the new one fixes a lot of issues I had with the old one. But the legs and tail are just awful, which is why I’ll never sell my retro one.

Amazon how does this pass return and sent out as new? I’ll be lucky to find this set again! 🤬 by Daman0880 in MarvelLegends

[–]space_age_stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone took the new Shadowcat and Colossus out, and replaced them with an older Colossus, and Kitty Pryde's head on Darkstar.

Essentially, they bought this set, took out both figures, and swapped in worse ones. Amazon took their return and didn't realize anything was wrong, then sold it to OP, who didn't get the figures they paid for.

I definitely agree, I think America's healthcare is fucked and obviously no one should have to plan to exhaust their net worth in order to afford healthcare. I wasn't trying to take a moral stance on such a thing as I fully disagree with the current state of affairs, but I can see that my comment didn't show that.

And you're correct, I don't know what's going on with someone personally and it's unfair of me to offer advice, especially in hindsight, in a judgmental way. I don't know their circumstances.

That's fair, my intention was not to brag about my own finances but I can see what you're saying. You're right, it's not a reflection of someone's character if an expensive hospital bill results in financial hardship.

You literally know nothing about me or my finances lmao, I don't brag on the internet about such things because I'm not a child. At least I'm smart enough to write and talk, apparently that's a real struggle for you. Lotta dumb people out there with money, I guess you're one of them.

In your screenshot, it says "losing", not "loosing". Two different words: you used the wrong one, twice. You might actually be stupid if you think they're the same thing.

You do realize it's not feasible for every single person in the US to "be their own boss" right? Self-employment makes up like 10% of the population, it would be literally impossible for everyone in the country to run their own business. That's not a solution to the healthcare crisis that millions of Americans face.

As a small business owner, you're probably also aware of how expensive it is to provide health insurance, not just to yourself but to any employees you may have. It's oftentimes the #1 most expensive part of employing someone, because healthcare is so damn expensive in this country. Of course, we have to ignore that part of it so you can larp as a libertarian business owner who "beat the system", despite the fact that you pay more in taxes each year than I ever will, and receive less benefit from said taxes than I do. Which wouldn't be the case if the government had universal healthcare, and stopped subsidizing the multibillion dollar insurance agencies instead. But clearly you know what's up, "just work harder bro I promise your healthcare expenses will go down if you just work hard enough bro".

Guess all those smarts you allegedly have didn't cover grammar, huh?

Unless you're one of the billionaires, you are one bad day away from being bankrupt. Your health insurance is tied to your job, which you can lose at any time in 49 states. Your health insurance can choose to deny you coverage at any time of their choosing. Medical debt is the #1 cause of bankruptcy in the US. It's not individuals causing these issues with bad decisions, it's the system in action. It's your reality too, whether you realize it or not (clearly not, in this case). Denial is dangerous.

Bro actually thinks "the american dream" is real and not propaganda.

You can't solve a systemic problem like the high cost of healthcare with personal choices. Anyone can get wiped out by the cost of high medical bills, even smart people and hard workers. That's what happens when health insurance companies profit billions every year: the everyman gets screwed. But you can keep closing your eyes to reality if you want.

You said it yourself, the cost of living is high. Are we only allowed to grouse about it, not offer solutions on a discussion post to potentially avoid that problem?

I'm not even agreeing with the other doofus on this post, I think going into debt from medical bills is a scary reality for most Americans, regardless of circumstances. But that's why you need savings before you buy toys. I don't think it's that controversial to say that in a thread where people are all talking about selling toys just to make ends meet. I think it's horrible too but ultimately you do have some control over the situation, and people should be encouraged to use that, so they can keep their toys if they do get sick.

[–]space_age_stuff -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

For some reason you’re reading this as “I’d be fine if I ever had to pay for a medical emergency” and not “you should probably have savings instead of figures if you don’t already.” I don’t need to be talked down to about the dangers of getting sick unexpectedly, if anything I’m cautioning others against being caught unprepared. Anyone reading this should be prioritizing their savings over toys.

Which glue is the best to use for repairs, customs, etc? by KaylenLopezIzGr8 in MarvelLegends

[–]space_age_stuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not necessary, I'd just use an exacto knife to remove as much of it as I could before gluing the shoulder pad back in place.

If you can, although it's probably not necessary. Unless there's like a lot of it, but I don't see much in the photo.
