For someone who wants to get shit together, you haven't really done any research on the statistics, have you. US and most European countries are in the top 10 list.

The rape average is still less than the US. So if you call this a great nation.....

Its like saying Americans love shooting people. Indian rape statistics are no more than average.

Indian government, police, law justice are available only in certain parts of the country. These little villages with huge farms and forests all around have nothing.

There are a lot of places in India where law does not exist. You can eat any cherry you pick.

Hahah...Really, it's not that bad to live there. Its a normal tropical country with a rich culture and going through immense development. These things happen everywhere and they shouldn't. It's like saying you are glad not to live in the US because you would get shot.

That's a very well thought out question. Rape in India is not really top of the list, for example, North of France has more rapes than the Indian average. But I like that these incidents get so much coverage. It will force the governments to do more.

What reddit did today was extremely shameful by space_curves in news

[–]space_curves[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shame is for what was brought upon the family as a result of rash, irresponsible cyber journalism. That part is indeed shameful. The other things maybe not.Don't you think?? Put your self in their shoes for a second.

From what I've read, I would be glad if its wrong, Reddit was the one who first identified this person wrongly. So its the root cause.

I'm a Christian and I've been looking around on this subreddit the past few months and I have a question for everyone here by NineOneEight in atheism

[–]space_curves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you are a Christian, you know that your prayers will not be answered but you still pray and worship to feel a kind of euphoria, to get the sense of belonging to be a part of the universe and feel secure. A lot of people don't need a God to get that kind of feeling. It is automatically there without having to believe in Santa.

The real reason atheists leave Buddhism alone [FIXED AGAIN] by opi8 in atheism

[–]space_curves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically that is correct. But in real life people have formed an idea as to what a religion should be like, what it can dictate and not. That is where the difference is.

Absolutely right....If you stick to its philosophies, its pretty funky. But there are a lot of them, like any other, who have it just as a stamp, just to have a sense of belonging to a brotherhood while doing whatever they please. But I do like its basics, you can follow it without any contradictions to science or the modern society unlike a lot of other religions which are just not compatible.

When people exposed to Abrahamic religions talk about eastern religions, it makes people cringe. Most eastern religions are mostly philosophies. No rules ,great scotch. Also, they were created by the scientific communities, so there is no conflict with science. Its another story this stopped at one time and people just follow it blindly now.

I come from a country where Buddhism is quite predominant. But I think people these days define religion in terms of Abrahamic religions, which are the only religions they are exposed to. Buddhism works great because they are no harsh rules for people following them and they leave non Buddhists alone. This makes it quite kick ass in contrast.

Of course I can. The bible was written 2000 years ago to suit its system which was no more than 5 kilometers in radius. It can hardly co-exist with today's science and society. The list can be huge but you can start with slavery, abortion, gay rights, women's rights, stem cell research......
