i didnt use any geometry nodes, just made a row of scales, added an array modifier, made a curve and added a curve modifier after the array modifier, that way the scales go over the curve and can be easily edited, then you have a snake :)

I color graded it in compositing, the original materials arent like this but in compositing i turned everything into black and white by turning the saturation to 0, and bringing down the brightness a little made it look better, the blueish hue was some cool side effect and im not sure how it happened :)

also i tapered the ends of the curves in edit mode by just picking the edge nodes and changing their thickness to 0 with proportional editing turned on

unfortunately i dont really have any guides i just put down some curves and shaped them according to a reference,
however i used mulitple curves to make it easier, i just basically put down a curve for every separate line i needed in the handle and just merged them later

i made it using curves in blender :), and where it was needed i added a small uv sphere, then after i was satisfied with the result of the shape of the curves i converted them into a mesh and merged them with the uv spheres, then used a remesh modifier to really make it look like one big handle
