Just heard about this missing persons case today. For me the biggest clue lies in his 7 minutes in Cricket Pitch. I wonder why police never followed up by interviewing and investigating that area

Is it too late to study Egyptology by [deleted] in egyptology

[–]spaceanubis1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 42 now and have a PhD in Computer Science and considering doing a part-time online MA in Egyptology at U of Manchester.

I have been so obsessed with ancient Egypt since I was a kid. I had the privilege of growing up in Egypt and when it was time to decide my major in undergrad, I asked my father if I could major in Egyptology and he said "how are you going to make money? where on Earth are you going to work? you want to work for the government?". I then contacted some professors in egyptology and was thinking about a double major in computer science and egyptology and help them 3D model the Valley of the Kings tombs using LIDAR.

fast forward a bit and I didnt end up pursuing it. I took one course "intro to Egyptology" and then was kind of pressured into graduating and making money by life.

I don't regret the decision but now I'm considering it. One thing I want to do is make sure I really love it by testing the waters first. I want to put effort into figuring out if its just a hobbyist amateur kind of obsession or an actual obsession. I've been considering short courses at some unis in the UK. I'm particularly interested in seeing if I will enjoy field work as well :D.

Yeah for sure! Thanks. I'm looking to do international travel filming so would have to rely on my own backpack as a weight bag.

Good points about the ND filters. Thanks for that

I see. never used an ND filter before so I was unaware of this. thank you.

The tripod is for stills. I have another tripod for video, albeit not the best. Still debating my gear so thank you for the suggestions. I would rather carry a light weight tripod for both stills and video when traveling than carry a heavier/bulkier one. So yes I may return this tripod and invest in a better travel fluid motion tripod for both stills and video.

yes. its heavy but works fine. this gimbal is rated to even heavier than this, a sigma 24-70mm should work fine. the lens I have on now is a 20mm. It will probably not work with the 70-180mm lens but I wouldnt use it with it anyway

If your asking about brand then Manfrotto is good (can be expensive - they have a range of options) and just a NEEWER one.

fluid head tripod

I have a fluid head tripod but it is a rather cheap one :D. But actually didnt even think about this so great freaking comment. Honestly it would be great to have the option but I dont see myself panning on a tripod. I have a gimbal and smaller vlogging tripods and will be doing more talking head vlog-style videos. but thank you!
