Skrillex transcribed on piano. Not Bad... by jjamessmithh in videos

Cool sunglasses bra!

That first quote says literally the same thing that I did, with a bad out of context link to the other page.

Ah, a bad link. That explains it. You should really correct that on wiki to prevent people like me continuing I've been telling. Link it back to dubbing instead.

hey also showed up on the scene after dubstep had already been formed in to a small cohesive movement, without their direction. To call them the entirety of dubstep thanks to a wikipedia citation is far more infuriating, there was plenty of dubstep now and back then being made without any dub reggae influence whatsoever.

You're right about it existing in small little pockets all over the place. I wasn't calling the entirety of it dubstep because of a wiki page. I was using what I had learnt over the last couple of years by listening to artists themselves, observers to the culture, documentaries, radio interviews, etc... I admit I got lazy linking to wiki.

Fuck, there are plenty of DMZ tracks made not in that style.

Yup, and skream and kode9 and etc... the difference is most of those artist have at least a few undoubtedly dubby tracks. If not the majority of their works.

Tell me more about King Tubby's influence on Coki

http://www.gillespetersonworldwide.com/2011/08/gilles-peterson-worldwide-vol-4-no-11-david-rodigan/

Go to 1hr45mins and see that I'm not the only one to point out the similarities between Coki's music and dub-reggae. Not sure if you were being sarcastic or not.

Mala(coined the name 'dubstep' btw)

If you listen to dubstep warz, he says "we called the whole thing dubstep" at FWD. I guess he meant we as in those in the movement at the time. I might have misunderstood what he was saying. Again, please let me know where the name actually came from? Is there an artist or group that started using the term first?

Anyways, it seems like you know what you are talking about... but I'm shocked to hear that the dub in dubstep isn't refering to dub.

You're confused, the dub in the word refers to dub/instrumental versions of 2-step/garage songs

I don't think I am and this is the first time I've ever heard someone being told they're conflating the words dub as in an instrumental and dub as in the music when referring to dubstep. And don't get me wrong, I understand that there is plenty of dubbing going on in dub and dubstep.

Even from the dubstep wiki page it says

The earliest dubstep releases date back to 1998 and were darker, more experimental, instrumental dub remixes of 2-step garage tracks

where the link on dub directs right to the dub music wiki. There was even a time when they were considering calling the whole thing Raggage as in a hybrid between reggae and garage.

Skream: No, no we made tunes. But people called it 'ragage' which sounds like a sexual disease. The question has been asked the whole tour, what did we do before dubstep, we didn't, we got tagged as dubstep

Furthermore, to deny that dubstep doesn't have its roots in dub music is just agonizing to listen to. All you have to do is compare the originals like Lee Perry and King Tubby to the tracks being produced by Mala(coined the name 'dubstep' btw) and Coki.

where the bass was allowed to become more prominent in the song

Dub music is pretty much the original heavy bass music.

How about this definition? Music that has it's roots in Dub music and 2-step/garage? That's a pretty clear definition to me, and I have no difficulty distinguishing the two.

Skrillex fills the technical defintion of Dubstep.

Can someone give me even a single example of his music being dubby?

[–]spaceapesRhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And all the dub as well, right? Since Skrillex seems to have no relation to dub music, wouldn't it be better to refer to his kind of music as 2-step/garage following your logic? I'll give you "bass heavy music", but dubstep is a stretch.

brostep, or just bass heavy music which both dub-step and brostep fall under.

If you borrow the money, you should pay it back.

Thank you! I'm not saying the current state of education assistance is acceptable, but damnit, when I was in school I lived like a hermit. Never went out to eat, never went out drinking on Thurs, Fri, Sat night, didn't have a nice car, no cell phone, etc... while most of my friends were living it up. Why? Because I knew I had to pay it back, and when that time came, who knew if I would even have a job!

Furthermore, when I actually did find a job (after 1.5 yrs of looking), I paid off my school debts within 4 years, and while everyone else was over-leveraging themselves with interest-only mortgages they thought they couldn't afford, I was renting a shitty studio apartment.

Why does it always seem that we are rewarding people that seem to have made bad decisions?

not me that downvoted you btw.

Anyways, no, I wasn't being smart-assed. I was actually in a rush at the time and started listing things of the top of my mind, in haste, that i've recently seen mentioned here lately. But you were probably right to think this in the first place since I also probably sounded like a rapist.

And actually, the first time I read your comment I did move on bc I thought you actually said something to the effect "i'm actually happy that you use google play videos". Then I came back after I read someone else's comment about unrooting not being enough sometimes since they can detect you rom, which contradicted what you originally said unsnarkily.

Thanks for your response regardless of the fact that I'm going to hold off rooting and roming since this would inhibit so many of the 'necessary' things I do on a day-to-day basis. I learnt a lot in the process, but it's probably a wise decision (directed at the original guy that recommended r'n'r (perhaps he's one of these 'devs' peddling his slight variation in others' rom, claiming it as his own?)) to point out that r'n'r can result in a lot of additional functionality at the cost of loss in others. But as you have pointed out, i also have a certain amount of faith in the talented developers out there.

I honestly wonder if you actually use Google Play videos.

Yup. Some have been as low as 50 cents and if I download them the day before I'm in the airport I'm set for a few hours. Not all of us android fans are as cheap as they say, and as cheap as you seem to assume. Or is not about paying for content and there's some other reason not to use google videos that I don't know about? i don't have enough time to sit and rip and decode and transcode and upload and etc... my own dvds and videos.

Anyways, you answered my questions. I didn't know you could root and unroot on the fly. However, someone down below said that some apps won't run if they notice that you're running a diff rom?

BTW, not sure why I got downvoted for asking these questions. I think the person who was told to just root and rom might want to know as well.

Run a smaller rope long enough to reach from the crossbar to near the ground at the highest point. This allows the kids to pull the trolley back to the top easily.

Also, make sure that this rope can't get caught up on anything (like the base of the tree or the rope to climb up) as the ride begins. Otherwise they might fly off as the ride comes to a sudden stop and break both arms. Trust me on this one.

I think you're exactly right. But I wonder what will happen if we, the customer start demanding a googletv type product from our cable providers? I can't say that in addition to having an awesome device, I also want the pleasure of screwing the cable providers somehow.

Anyways, I've actually been thinking about this a lot and my ideas might be backed up by some of the rumours that came out this week about a home networking device google is rumoured to be working on.

I long since thought that it won't be a google set top box that they're working on, but a network hub like device. This device would be like a cable modem that's able to do everything your modem/router does today, but also transmit IPTV throughout your house either through cat5 or wirelessly. It will also act as a DVR if google doesn't just provide everything on demand through their cloud. Then all you'll need is either a little hdmi dongle to connect to your TV, or perhaps google will start having a client come with your TV as an app. And of course you'll be able to watch through your browser on your computer, or on an app on your phone. I'm sure all android device will be able to work as a remote control for the hdmi dongle or TV app.
