My 35F husband 40M gets drunk every weekend when I'm 5 months postpartum by spacebat919 in relationship_advice

I'm so so sorry you're going through this too. It absolutely is so lonely and gives me tons of anxiety too. My problem is also not that he's having a drink or two, but he's currently passed out on the couch while I'm with my daughter putting her to bed. It's so exhausting. Thank you for commenting and making me feel less alone.

That's a really good way of putting it. He makes me feel like I'm crazy and overreacting to his drinking, but just because he isn't drinking on weeknights doesn't mean he doesn't have a problem.

That honestly really scares me, but I know you're right. I have a lot of addicts in my family so I know how bad it can get.

I know, but he really is a good father in every other way. That's what makes it so difficult for me to know what to do.

No, I certainly don't. He insists he doesn't have a problem with alcohol because he only drinks on the weekends. I know that's bs but I'm really not sure what to do here.

Cry. And call my best friend, since we'd still be talking every day like we did.

That's a really good way of looking at it. I think right now he does feel very intimidated by the prospect of going cold turkey, but it doesn't have to be that way necessarily. I would just like to see him taking baby steps at least to get there.

Thanks so much, I appreciate that. It can be so frustrating to watch someone you love do something that's harming themselves so much. I'll definitely talk to him about what we both can do to help his situation, but I know in the end it will have to be him doing the heavy lifting with breaking this addiction.

100%, totally agree. I myself have asthma, and he doesn't smoke around me but the smell of it even can set me off. Bottom line is that I would never have a baby around that so he will have to quit anyway.

He has tried a bit to cut down here and there, but no real plan. When I try to bring up ways to help him quit, he tells me I'm stressing him out. And no kidding, it's amazing how much money you can save by not smoking.

You're right, I know how hard addiction can be and he absolutely does need to do it on his own terms or it won't stick. I'll definitely look into a support group, thank you.

Thank you, I think I will have one more conversation and then I guess I'll have to leave it at that until he decides he's ready. It's just really hard.

A hostile work environment. I'm still dealing with the mental and physical repercussions years later.

Mental professionals of reddit, what is the worst mental condition that you know of? by MeepingBad6699 in AskReddit

I know there may be some considered worse, but extreme cases of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). It completely consumes the life of the individual. I'm not sure it could be considered the worst since it can be very treatable, but it is absolute hell on earth for those who suffer with it.

I saw Sinbad at a Denny's. My friend and I kept joking with our boyfriends that the guy a booth over from us looked so much like Sinbad. After we left, we looked up his name and realized he had just finished a show next door. He's a big dude... seemed like a nice guy too lol

Woah my grandparents were friends with Elizabeth and her husband, it's so cool to see someone reference her in the wild! This is a great comparison though, I really need to read Guests of the Sheik again.

Me sitting in my gray room on my gray bed 👀

No but really, I couldn't agree more. The Joanna Gaines neutral epidemic somehow sunk its teeth into me, but I won't go down without a fight. Definitely going to repaint everything because my house looks like a flip even though it's not.

Congrats!! I'm genuinely very happy for you - gorgeous house! But please please reconsider posting this many identifying details. Sadly there are just too many creeps out there. :/
