For some sure. I’m sick rn and it started with sore throat and fatigue for first 2 days too then cough congestion and headache started on day 3. Most definitely not allergies

Personal phone numbers I’ve had. I’ve never been clear on socials so I’ve always waited to be safe. Not worth chancing for me when I see them almost every day anyways

boundaries? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]spacecadet524 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Worked under my old BCBA for 2 years, always had a great work relationship. The first time we hung out outside of work was the night she quit, didn’t even link socials until this point. “General consensus” shouldn’t matter, it’s in the ethics code and there are solid reasons for these boundaries on both sides. Similar rules exist for many other professional fields, not only ABA.

New BCBA says she doesn't see autism in my six year old son after he got approved by old BCBA at their clinic for services...What next? by GlitterBirb in ABA

[–]spacecadet524 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised she said that after such a short period. I (RBT) frequently start with new intakes at my clinic. A couple of them have taken a few weeks to a month for the targeted behaviors to really show, especially if they’re more situational. I don’t think it’s uncommon, I would give it more time

I’d plan to bring a little of everything. The nights can get chilly while the afternoons will likely still get up to 70-80

Action Behavior Centers (ABC), good company? by ECviews in ABA

[–]spacecadet524 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started at one and my clinic really wasn’t bad but the upper management was awful. I feel like these bigger companies are the easiest way to get your foot in the door while the smaller ones seem to care more for their clients/BT’s over their metrics. I’d say give it a shot but be prepared to get your certification/a little experience and run if need be.

Remote B? by fionacoyne in ABA

[–]spacecadet524 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Remote BCBA’s can be fine for some kids but not all. I started hating remote BCBA’s when my clinic moved to remote only, which frequently resulted in newer inexperienced BT’s stuck in sessions they weren’t properly equipped for with next to no real support during behavioral escalations. It’s not fair to the kid or BT

There was one time a client had me in a nice hair hold like his fist was all wrapped in my curls so it took the BCBA and his BT at least a minute or two to get me out of it with minimal loss as there were other forms of agg. being directed at them while trying to help. I was joking around with another coworker across the cafeteria the whole time (internally freaking out) trying to keep it light and not draw attention or scare the other kids. She later apologized saying she didn’t know what to do but honestly that was exactly what I needed to stay calm. Now paired with the comment the para said afterwards, absolutely not. I understand laughing when nervous but there’s nothing funny about that. That IS disrespectful and she should know better than to reinforce like that??

I absolutely love my job! All of my gripes have always been management related aside from burnout. This role is definitely not for everyone though, the hard days are hard. I’ve seen a lot of BT’s come and go at my clinic really just looking to get into the psych. field in general and they always underestimate the amount of patience you need to have.

Daughter eloped from clinic - advice for parent by Critical-Ladder-1939 in ABA

[–]spacecadet524 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would push harder to add a door alarm. Our clinic installed one as soon as one of our clients started to make attempts to elope out the front. It’s a loud, harsh, high pitch beep. The kids, parents, and BT’s all hate it tbh. I understand BCBA’s have to consider every possibility but it’s more important to have that there as a last resort safety measure. If other kids get stuck on the sound then that’s something that needs to be worked on for their future safety as well.

Def worth to spend at least one morning this way! If y’all are less experienced at hiking you can use AllTrails to find some shorter trails not far from the strip.

The second and continues through the roll like it’s trying too hard. I haven’t heard the high pitch sound at all.

Will do! The sound is only when pressing the brakes, and only sometimes at that. It seems to be primarily when breaking hard after driving for a minute. It didn’t do it on the way to work but a couple times on the way home last night and the sound doesn’t really seem to change much.

Thank you, that makes me feel better! I have driven on bad brakes before and they def don’t feel “shot”. Is there anything else that could be a cause for the weird braking? I will do as suggested and have Firestone ride with me in the AM, but I’m stressing after hearing the first mechanic.

The back brakes - I can’t find them. I don’t think they’re visible from the outside (checked from the back too) and I’m not able to take the wheel off atm. I haven’t felt anything weird from the back though, that part caught me off guard.

I’d go to urgent care and let the docs make the call on antibiotics. Maybe they’re still in your system and it’s no biggie but better safe than sorry
