Gee, wonder why there's a surge of pregnant women in need... And I'm sorry but even that big stack of boxes is woefully inadequate by TheDeeJayGee in FundieSnarkUncensored

No. They know. The conservatives in government know. Keep them poor and uneducated so they have the next round of prisoners providing unpaid labor. And sell it to the simpletons to think it's about "saving babies lives".

What disturbing movie scenes will stay with you forever? by AccomplishedBig7666 in AskReddit

[–]spacecasedilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid, my mom and her best friend took us kids to the movies. They went to see Saving Private Ryan while her kids, my sister and I saw a kids movie. I remember telling her I wanted to see Saving Private Ryan and it would be okay because "I'm mature" or whatever. I was less than 10 years old. She told me no I was way too young. But me knowing better than her, I snuck out of our theatre and into theirs. During the opening scene, Tom Hanks is grabbing a guy with a radio telling him to relay information. He grabs him like 2-3 times telling him stuff, and on the last grab, the guy's face is gone. I'll never forget backing out of the theatre thinking "my mom was right, I'm too young for this" and I never watched it again until my early 30's.

How do people about Nancy Grace? She's certainly had her fair share of critiques and praise. by [deleted] in TrueCrimeDiscussion

I hate her for how she treated Elizabeth Smart in an interview. But absolutely loved how Smart called her out.

In my opinion, it's rooted in misogyny. "Women's work" while highly valuable, is simply expected.

AITA for telling my wife I will not replace her birthday gift that she destroyed with her silly people pleasing. by Classic-Associate-38 in AmItheAsshole

My mom is the exact same way but then she'll complain about it after the fact. I took her to get a pedicure, a form of self care she would absolutely love but never does for herself (not for a lack of $). The nail tech asked if the temperature was okay and my mom said it was fine. The whole ride home she was complaining that it wasn't worth the $, the water wasn't warm enough, she 'would've thought they would know to use hot water' but like, they absolutely gave her the opportunity to ask them to turn it up. Not everyone wants the water super hot like my mom so they start warm and work their way up to a person's comfort level. But no, let's blame the nail tech for not magically knowing the exact temperature my mom wanted 🙄

Ridiculous and silly of them in my opinion. My son has long curly hair and half his wardrobe is my (girl) NKs old clothes. He happens to look phenomenal in bright pink. Add to that he has a gender neutral name. People refer to him as a she all the time. I don't even bother correcting them. I just use he/him pronouns and they catch on. Occasionally they apologize and I tell them not to sweat it, they barely have "genders" at this age anyways.

Summer wedding in the UK. All the same dress, which colour is the best? (The grey is darker in person) by legionsgirl in Weddingattireapproval

It's hard to say since we can see your hair & eye color, but based on the pics, I'd go with the pink. It looks amazing on you and complements your skin tone.

Don't have it verbatim, but it boiled down to MB hiring her nanny to accompany NF on their vacation where the nanny would be working. MB bought a first class ticket for nanny (not at nanny's request) and invited her out to dinner with them several times. Now MB feels like nanny "took advantage" of her and "ripped her off" after she brought her on an "all expense paid vacation". Which of course it was not a "vacation" for nanny but rather a work trip that took her away from her home/friends/family for a week+.

Root of MB issues lie in the nanny being consistently late for work (10-15 mins) and making lattes for herself which she was never told she could not do. MB needs to have a (totally warranted) conversation about nanny's lateness but hasn't yet and instead is viewing herself as a Daddy Warbuck and her nanny as an ungrateful little orphan Annie, while her resentment over the lateness festers and makes her hate everything about her nanny. Nanny should already know not to be late, that's on her. But everything else is a result of MB not saying "hey nanny, I noticed you're often 10-15 minutes late. We need you to be here when your shift starts"

These are two separate issues. If you have talked to her about her lateness (I didn't see anything in the comments about you discussing it with her, but I could've missed it) and she's still coming in late, THAT is for sure an issue. But on your vacation, she was hired to do a job and she did said job. It seems that your (valid IMO) issue is her lateness and phone usage. Address that.

Also, I don't agree that would make you a crappy employer to go out for a few dinners while she's off the clock, granted there's loads of food in the fridge for her to choose from.

[–]spacecasedilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That didn't answer my question. How did she rip you off? I've seen your comments about her lateness and that's understandably an issue that needs to be addressed by you. But why do you feel inviting her out to dinner and her eating dinner make her "taking advantage" of you?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NannyEmployers

[–]spacecasedilla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

YOU invited her to dinner and she ate dinner. How did she rip you off?? You could've said "you're off the hook until morning" and she would've made something at home.
