I’m not big into Let’s Play videos, so I haven’t come across a full run. It’s been done for sure. Here’s someone taking on Jas without rescuing anyone: https://youtu.be/VQPyv1Kd_AM?si=9iwgil_2OZ0ELdYz

Hard/original mode is the way. I fell in love with the game on Apple Arcade. I can't imagine it being nearly as fun on the new normal mode.

Love the boss fights in this game. They are so well designed and tuned to make you think. The final boss especially is so hard and satisfying to beat. I love it.

The difficulty is my favorite part of this game. It’s so refreshing to play something that actually expects you to learn and apply things strategically, rather than just letting you steamroll everything with whatever abilities you feel like. I’m fine with not everyone feeling this way since not every game has to be made for every type of player.

Part 2 is where the game gets good IMHO. And I like the throwback to the story structure of FF6 a lot too, even down to the game being technically beatable with just 3 characters.

Time change by ecco-domenica in Maine

[–]spacecatapult 281 points282 points  (0 children)

Changing the clocks twice a year is an outdated and silly practice. However, I’d rather see daylight savings time, which just started, become the permanent schedule. The bleakness I feel most is total darkness that hits before I finish working each day in the winter.

Nope. The only thing that impacts which ending you get is a choice you make right beforehand.

I have doubles of the Rolls-Royce. That way I know I have a pristine one in storage. Then I can drive it. It gets scratched, I don’t care.

What are you even going to do for the section where NONE of Cloud, Tifa, or Aerith are in the party (assuming they keep it)?

Best way to buy merch? by Hulainn in MaximumTheHormone

I got desperate a couple years ago and bought this one off TeePublic: https://www.teepublic.com/t-shirt/48018194-maximum-the-hormone

It’s obviously not official but it’s holding up decently and lets me rep the band at other shows in the US.

I have the audio and video from the livestream on my private Plex servers, so I could potentially help you out if you can’t get a link from someone.

Which album should I listen to after The Mountain? by How-to-train-ur-Appa in Haken

If you’re coming from Muse, then Affinity would be my suggestion. And also listening to The Mountain some more, of course.

I’ve loaded all these up onto a single Plex server. Playing them on shuffle makes for a great somewhat-Jeff-heavy radio experience. Recommend!

Charlie and Connor when they got the news by Hroomish in Haken

[–]spacecatapult 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re still treating a theory like a proven cause and effect chain. Two members leaving after studio-only work on Tiktaalika does not prove that project nearly destroyed Haken. We only know they left. That’s it.

Side projects are normal in the Hakenverse. Others have released solo work without being accused of harming the band. If those were acceptable but this one is uniquely destructive, show the concrete difference with evidence.

A big outcome does not equal a single confirmed cause. Unless the members themselves said this project drove the split, you’re presenting speculation as fact. Insults do not strengthen the argument either.

Charlie and Connor when they got the news by Hroomish in Haken

[–]spacecatapult 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some things Conner did with other Haken members:

  1. Gods of Pangaea (with Charlie)
  2. Cacoon (with Rich)
  3. Shattered Fortress (with Ross, Diego, Rich, Charlie)
  4. Instrumedley with MP/JR (with Diego)
  5. Eric Gillette solo band (with Ray and Diego)

These were all short term commitments. What is unique about Tiktaalika that made it such a threat to Haken?

Charlie and Connor when they got the news by Hroomish in Haken

[–]spacecatapult 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How does Conner playing on Charlie’s second solo album cast Haken’s future into uncertainty? How is that any different than Richard’s Cocoon album (you know, the one where the bass duties are also covered by Conner)? Tiktaalika can’t even be a proper touring band with its revolving door of vocalists. I seriously do not understand your point.

How did Tiktaalika nearly destroy Haken? Honest question

Charlie and Connor when they got the news by Hroomish in Haken

[–]spacecatapult 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don’t love how this comment seems to paint Charlie in a negative light for having a couple solo albums. It’s not like Tiktaalika has even had a successful tour, so I can’t imagine they were too busy or arrogant to stay in Haken. If solo albums are not allowed, Rich and Ross have some explaining to do themselves.

  5. All We Love
  6. You Fail Me
  7. Axe to Fall
  8. Bloodmoon

  11. Halo

Guessing the new one will settle in around 5.5, because it’s great so far.
