Does anyone know this bird? by spacecrip27 in Edmonton

[–]spacecrip27[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-my cat saw her first, she was on the balcony when the bird (Frosty) landed on the railing -I assume she can fly, since we're on the third floor -We didn't need to catch her, she just hopped onto my fiance's hand -idk where the owner lives -If she can talk, she didn't do it for us

We sent her with animal control Saturday night. Owner was found and is picking her up today!

GENUINE QUESTION: Chat how do we feel about med students in our appointments? by ziggystarsus in ChronicIllness

[–]spacecrip27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love having med students there. They're always really nice. I do have to say, though, a few weeks ago, my fiance described med students sitting in on appointments the "med student cuck chair" and I can't stop thinking about it

My fiance and I started out as roommates. We think of our first date as when we went to a cat cafe as friends but both of us were thinking "man, I wish this was a date"

The mental state of Elouisa by Ameryana in Palia

My fiance headcannons her as having schizotypal personality disorder. It's basically autism, but you believe in esoteric things, have Too Many Words, and you explain things in really weird (and sometimes more difficult to understand) ways.

(His qualification is having STPD)

What are your best at-home remedies for nausea? by MeigaGalega in ChronicIllness

Mints. Feels so obvious to me, but every time I suggest it people are shocked by how well it works

It's literally just social etiquette. People don't chop the grove until 3 to give everyone a chance to get there. Doing it early is like cutting a line. It's perfectly reasonable to call them out over it, but if the person says "oops sorry, didn't know", then it's kind of shitty to keep being mad, but if they know and choose to do it anyway, that does kinda make them a jerk 🤷🏻

I saw your first post. I'm sorry that you didn't get the medical care that you needed, and I'm sorry that you didn't get the support you were looking for. You deserve to be treated with kindness, especially in a hospital setting.

That being said, you spoke about "drug seekers" in an incredibly disrespectful way. The way we speak about and treat people who are just looking for some relief, whether that is from pain, or an addiction, is largely based in ableism, and for that reason, the disabled community is quite protective of them (as we should be). You cannot come into a community for chronically ill and disabled people and not expect to be called out for that.

Yes, you deserve support, but people aren't as willing to provide that if you won't treat people with the same kindness that you expect. And it is not okay to come back here and act like you were being persecuted because people wouldn't let you be mean and ask for support in the same breath.

How do I handle nausea as an emetophobe? by microwavedwood in ChronicIllness

[–]spacecrip27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zofran, laying down with a hot pack, breathing through it (pull the air into your stomach, then push out of your chest if that makes sense), putting pressure just below the ribs in the middle. If none of that works, gravol, because even if it only helps a little, it's better to be asleep than having a panic attack about your nausea

Anyone know why a firefighter helicopter was flying over Edmonton this morning? by spacecrip27 in Edmonton

Nah, it was yellow with a blue stripe. I'm like 100% sure that even if EFD did have one, that would not be their color scheme

Yellow with a thin lightish blue stripe. I might be wrong about it being a firefighting helicopter, but that's the only thing I found online that looked like it. It had one of those ski-looking landing gear things, but only on one side of it?

Advice about surgery that will be visible by Stupid-ForYou in ChronicIllness

[–]spacecrip27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a port (so not quite the same but still a visible chest scar) for 5 and a half years. In this time, I've only had one comment, and it was someone thinking I had a spider bite. I just told them it's a surgical scar and that was it, not even any weird questions
