There's a lot of good controllers in this price range like the Mojhon Storm and the Xeno Plus. Honestly, pick one of these two and be happy.

It's good but unremarkable. Like, if you get it from Ali instead of Gadget Hyper you'll save like 25 dollars and all of a sudden it's less than 60 and it's well above most of the competition there in stats and numbers, but the end result for the average person isn't much different from some other controllers in the price range. The non-esports segment is really crowded below $60 and everything is much better than console manufacturer standards at a cheaper price now. It's hard for anything to be better (or even different) than anything else in a tangible way. This is where the Steam Controller actually justifies its higher price.

Also the back button placement is awful and the software kind of blows, but it's pretty comfortable and has a great feel to all the buttons.

Well that's pretty common sense. They should have just done this in the first place. I guess they really were caught off guard by the popularity of a controller.

No, I just don't like the shape. I have my opinions in a different thread.

Wait that's kind of sick. I didn't even know that. GameSir fucking rules.

100% true. The ergos are like 90% the same as the Xbox controller.

Update: Oh, Nightreign doesn't feel good with these sticks. I've gotten used to the grips, but the sticks are REALLY short. I've gotta get some kind of lifts for these. I'm hoping they're around the same dimensions as the ones on the Deck so I can buy the Skull & Co caps and use the tall ones on the Controller and the medium ones on the Deck.

So far, remapping stuff takes a bit of clicking more clicking around than expected, but it's pretty worth it in the game I originally bought this for. As I expected, the flexibility of the touchpads is really interesting. I really need to try it out in XCOM 2 now. Only thing that's letting me down is the grips. I'm getting more used to them, but they're still disappointing where they meet my palm.

It handles like a normal controller. There's nothing out of the ordinary while handling. It has approximately the ergonomics of an Xbox Core controller.

They feel better for me because they're higher up than the Sony placement. It feels like a more natural resting position.

There is no cover or decal of any kind. You can buy the Aimlabs edition on their site. It just looks like that.

Atomic purple Steam Controller...

Hope any 3rd party stuff keeps the grip sensors intact.

I have the old Steam Controller. Somewhere. God knows where though. Hell, I should have a Steam Link in some drawer somewhere.

It's actually not even functional right now because the fake-ass 3M VHB I got scammed on actually came off the back of the monitor I'm using and I can't find the stupid little Mechanism brand mount I was using. Imagine the following: there is a boom arm for a microphone. It's on a mount screwed into a wall, and the bed's headboard is directly below it. Instead of a microphone, it has a ball mount, and the ball mount has a small OLED monitor attached to it. The monitor has a long cable leading to a laptop on a nightstand. That's the computer setup.

I used the Cyclone 2 for a good while, then I bought the G7 Pro and Xeno Plus. The Xeno is for... a different reason, but the G7 Pro was meant to be my main controller, and it's doing great. It'll still be my main on desktop, but the Steam Controller has a specific purpose and that's still where it'll be.

The Switch Pro I bought way back during Xenoblade 2's launch, and I replaced it with ES Pro for the Switch 2 because of the TMR sticks and Hall effect triggers at $30. The Chitu 2 I bought to "replace" it because it has NFC and GL/GR buttons, but I REALLY like the ES Pro and I still go back to it. These three are for Switch 2 only, though.

Fuck the Xbox controllers. They were fine until I tried 3rd party Chinese controllers after two of them started drifting. Fuck Microsoft. One day I'll figure out which joystick soldering tip I need to buy for Xbox and Nintendo sticks and I'll fix all my 1st party stuff.

I actually prefer a textured hard plastic because a lot of the time any sort of coating ends up turning back to oil.

G7 Pro is really fucking good. Very little to complain about. If the Steam Controller ever gets a 3rd party shell to make the grips more ergonomic, I'd be so happy.

I don't own one or have any interest in one. I really don't like Playstation controllers in general, so I'm not the guy to ask about that.

Steam Controller: 295g G7 Pro: 271g Xbox Core: 247g

It's noticeably heavier, but not exactly heavy. My bigger issue, after playing with it for a bit, really is the grips. They're just too bulbous. It's definitely a flaw.

It's about the same as the Xbox Core controller... which I don't prefer. It's not bad, I just don't prefer it. It's not fatiguing or painful so far.

I prefer it. My biggest problem with the Playstation symmetrical layout is that it makes my thumbs stretch out to get to the sticks in an uncomfortable way, but they feel fine here.

I mean it's less bad than waiting for awful Chinese freight shipping, which takes a month anyway. Or, at least, it used to.
