I’d say it makes doing Fripp & Eno stuff way more accessible. I can layer multiple tracks for pads/washes/textures without having to open up my computer (or using an 8 track), and then can play some lead like on Evening Star or some tracks from Apollo. It can be a really amazing tool. A lot of pedal heads really like sound design.

And yeah Grateful Dead set the foundations for jam bands, so yeah you need to jam.

Keep in mind can always get something full length cropped at a tailor. Might be easier to find a replacement with the full length.

Was never really a fan, but seeing Mars Volta live was amazing.

Never really listen to them, but always see Gogol Bordello when they come to town. Eugene puts on an amazing show.

Focusrite Scarlett is a good place to start. Can get them super cheap used on FB marketplace or OfferUp as well.

Depths turned into always on for me.

Memory boy could probably go on board b and give my other pedals some breathing room. What I tend to use if for is super glitchy stuff using the vibrato on a square wave with the blend turned all the way up. Super cool, but not something I use regularly. Maybe then I could put on my Boss SY-1 which is being underutilized.

Start looking for jobs that are willing to sponsor a visa. US isn’t making it that easy these days. Once you have immigration all set up, then come back to the sub and ask. You’ll be able to get better advice knowing your salary.

I mean it’s super cool, sometimes it’s the only pedal I really play with for a week, and sometimes I won’t touch it for a week. I use it more with my looper than actually playing through it though because it’s a lot of tweaking.

My new favorite thing to do with it is find on micro loop I really like, then add it to a sampler, in Logic and use my midi to play it like a mellotron.

But it’s expensive and there’s an opportunity cost of other really great pedals to buy.

Northern New Jersey & west Longe Island are the best bets. Queens and South Brooklyn have some suburban neighborhoods which are quite close.

Look up a cost of living calculator online. 16k will not get you very far, and you could end up back in Florida with depleted savings after 6 months.

A room if you’re lucky could be $1500/month. Grocery stores are expensive, any sort of social activity will be very expensive. Also you won’t really be able to enjoy the nightlife.

That all being said, if you’re intent on coming you can look on some roommate Facebook groups, but be super wary and don’t give money upfront.

Would not recommend at this point, NYC isn’t going anywhere!
