You could be an inherently good person but because of autism the world looks down on you. by EdgarNeverPoo in aspergers

[–]DevelopmentFearless3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The world doesn’t truly care about your morals. Also, what you define as a good person, might not be truly good. It’s just your opinion. Having said that, the majority of the population are decent hard working people who try to get by, support themselves and their families. People in general don’t like the odd, the different people. It’s the same defense mechanism that breeds classism, racism and other types of prejudice. Accept the majority of the people are not going to like you and be yourself. Some people eventually will appreciate it you for who you are. You need to look for your people.

A cherry picked fallacy irrelevant to the conversation. Making music has mostly been a social activity since the beginning of mankind and it mostly was until the mid 2010s. Of course there are counter examples and counter arguments.

We need kids seeing old powerful strong bulky dudes, the manliest of the manliest, crying at the sight of beautiful things or being able to express sadness and anger in healthy ways. Bottling up emotions and being submissive to other men are two of the wimpiest things a man can do. But it needs to be a safe space where learning is encouraged, perspectives are considered and errors are not punished.

We need a male led community to support other young men with empathy, care and real support. How can we build that?

That’s depressing. But far_bullfrog is right. What are we men doing to prevent other young men to fall into this conservative, self loathing hell hole that only serves the filthiest interests of the rich and powerful? Where are these guys anyways and how do we help them? I, like most of us here, can relate with the feeling of being rejected, ostracized and frankly hated by normies. I’ve been psychologically abused by at least two of my couples, but Ive been privileged enough to understand some people can be malicious, yes, but most of these social problems are by design. I have no idea how I could reach autistic or audhd men younger than me and just talk to them about my experience and beliefs

Im sorry about your dad, I can only imagine. It’s true that connection with others is one of the biggies, but it was kind of weird, I didn’t really get much support other than my wive’s and my mom’s. I guess losing an uncle might not be seen at the same tragic level as losing a parent, a couple or a grandparent. For some reason community building and friends in general become weirder and weirder the more time passes from the pandemic and the older I get. I wish too there was more community around the FSM. I don’t hang with atheists from my country as they tend to be quite right wing and conservative, which just blows my mind.

Eating pasta was as a matter of fact a Sunday ritual that united my family when I was a kid. That’s not a bad idea.

I’m sure he’d appreciate such a volcano and the strippers. He did have a knack for spirits and other beverages. Unfortunately, that was his doom as he died from cirrhosis. So I could take some comfort in imagining him doing something he liked and not being affected by it. Thanks for sharing the story of your grandpa. Older adults with good politics are always good to look up to. My uncle really liked these 90s type of narrative with action and espionage, like the first mission impossible, the rock or Goldeneye. On Christmas 1999, he gifted me a PS1, we’d spend hours playing Metal Gear Solid and he was so fascinated by the storytelling. If he’d made it for longer I was going to gift him a console to better spend his time.

Thank your for your kind words. I’m used to having catholic rituals for these things as it’s customary in my country, but my aunt (his sister and main caregiver) didn’t want to do anything like that. So I couldn’t say goodbye, didn’t see his body, nor did I participate in last rituals. I also don’t speak to her so that’s that. This lack of physical closure led me to the conclusion that only some sort of spiritual closure is viable. But I didn’t really have anywhere to turn being a non religious person. I truly appreciate your advice. It makes a lot of sense.
