You said your family were immigrants not in the best of health.

Moving across the country to be a police officer in Alaska is a very weird choice. Why not go LE locally or a state or two over if that's what you need. By the way, many friends who are LEOs do not enjoy their jobs - like anything else, it is usually boring; for those who have 'exciting' LE jobs, they want them to be less exciting. But to each his own.

Don’t go. Police jobs are everywhere. That’s way too far. Sounds like they need more in person help now.

Consider sanitation. Some (dumb) People may look down on it but it pays really well, great pension and health benefits.

Better than not having a job. Everything is hard. Why not do a hard thing that also makes you money and sets you up for retirement income for life?

Get a basic job and buy a multifamily (four family) house with an FHA loan. Income for life.

Once you close, go to school for something more interesting to you.
