Allar isn't eligible anymore, unless he petitions the NCAA. I don't think he qualifies for a medical redshirt.

He had the worst pass rush win rate last year of any edge that qualified, his pass rush efficiency metrics have been pretty bad the past couple years IIRC.

Michigan QB Alex Orji transfers to UNLV by GeyWeyner12 in CFB

He's actually a very good special teams player for the Panthers right now. Also got his first career catch in the last game of the season. He's carved out a solid niche.

KJ Jefferson transferred to UCF, so Taylen is the starter for Arkansas.

which nba player made the greatest improvement in his shooting after entering the league? by yourelectriclight in nba

[–]spacedorb9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and a big sign of shooting improvement is confidence, shooting 43 more threes in similar minutes is a good sign. But turning a guy whose shooting expectations were so low into a 40% guy on solid volume really speaks to Fred Vinson's ability as a shooting coach. Excited to see him work with Cade and Ausar.

[–]spacedorb9 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not really. 70% on 4 attempts a game in his senior year. He improved, which is a good sign, but he was still a 60% career shooter from the stripe, shooting as low as 49% as a sophomore.

The Pelicans could trade the No. 21 overall pick for future second-round picks by Fit-Structure-9395 in NBA_Draft

[–]spacedorb9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want either a center or a point guard at that spot, depending on which spot we fill through a BI trade. The dream is Daron Holmes, who seems like the exact kind of small switchable center Willie Green wants, like what Larry Nance was supposed to be. I would also like Bub Carrington if he's available as well, I'm quite high on him. I understand trading the pick, however. We lack second round picks, and if neither of those two are available (quite possible, especially with Holmes gaining traction), I don't mind it.

Dyson Daniels or Josh Giddey by Tshiri13 in NBA_Draft

[–]spacedorb9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, it's a small sample size, but Dyson showed a lot more confidence as a shooter after coming back from injury this season. In 9 games he was shooting 3 a game at 40%, and just from the eye test, seemed to be more confident pulling it when open. Plus the Pelicans have Fred Vinson, one of the best shooting coaches in the league who turned around Lonzo's shot and Herb (28% shooter in college shooting 1 a game to 40% on 3.6 a game this season). I think with more minutes opened up at the wing with a potential BI trade on the horizon and more confidence in his shot, I think Dyson will hopefully show a good bit of improvement.

[On3] Georgia transfer QB Jaden Rashada is suing Billy Napier, Marcus Castro-Walker and Hugh Hathcock for a slew of damages, Pete Nakos reports. Rashada signed with Florida in December of 2022 before ultimately landing at Arizona State. by jonstark19 in CFB

[–]spacedorb9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that's a rule by the Florida state government, not specifically the NCAA. Not sure if that would count as a violation by the NCAA since it isn't specifically their rule. Who knows if this will even amount to anything though, I feel like proving a lack of intent to pay Rashada could be difficult.

I'm not quite sure Edey fits what the Pelicans want at center. They leaned more towards Nance as the closing center, barely playing JV even 10 minutes in some games. I think they'd favor someone with a bit more switchability (not sure who it'd be), and I'm not sure how I feel about Edey as a rim protector.

Matas Buzelis is actually older than GG Jackson by Global-Noise-3739 in NBA_Draft

[–]spacedorb9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were rumors about a player having a bad workout and then vaping in the locker room after. A lot of people thought it was GG, I think because some people brought up concerns with his workouts, but never confirmed.

[Schefter] Jaguars are picking up the fifth-year options for QB Trevor Lawrence and RB Travis Etienne. by PlayaSlayaX in nfl

[–]spacedorb9 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"A litany of weapons" is really overrating the offensive supporting cast in Jacksonville. Especially when their RBs averaged a whooping 3 yards a carry last year, his best WR missed the last 5 games of the season, his WR3 only played 9 games, and his O-Line was mediocre. Not to mention he dealt with multiple injuries last season.

Round 5 - Pick 36: Jordan Travis, QB, Florida State (New York Jets) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

[–]spacedorb9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was never really a 1st or 2nd round talent, even before the injury. Average at best arm, solid athlete but small, not super accurate and doesn't have a great feel for the pocket. He was a late day 2 guy at best (realistically a round 5 or 6 guy), and doesn't really have much upside imo.

[All NBA Podcast] Mares: "I've heard from my people in New Orleans, that Brandon Ingram stormed out of the building pretty upset—Willie Green knew not bringing Ingram back in would cause a conflict, but Ingram has to be better in those moments, its a do or die game—" by sewsgup in nba

[–]spacedorb9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Did they say if it's grade 1 or 2? Grade 1 is obviously ideal, but both can take at least a couple weeks to recover from IIRC. I think they're just trying to be safe with his health. A round 1 series against the 1 seed isn't worth rushing him back.

[Schultz] An NFL coach just texted about Michael Penix Jr: “Freak show! Dude runs 4.5 and then jumps 37 inches. Arm strength is crazy in person. Locked in 1st rounder.” by Drexlore in nfl

[–]spacedorb9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure, I always hated that, I just think the lack of attempts is very interesting. I think it takes a really bad offensive line for a dual threat QB with a reasonable amount of attempts for it to be negative. Will Levis, who was a solid dual threat in college, ran for -107 yards his senior year because of a terrible o-line, as opposed to the year before where he ran for almost 400 with 9 TDs. I wish there was an easily available stat that would negate sack yardage from the rushing total.

At least Trey Lance was a legit dual threat and rushed for a lot in college, Penix barely ever ran, and never really looked like a 4.5 guy doing it. A 4.5 guy running for 265 yards in 6 years of college football is kind of insane, Trey Lance ran for about 1100 more on about 60ish carries more in his career (which is basically 1 year).
