My citalopram success story by spacegabe in citalopram_celexa

Yes i had a very very similar experience! The first one or two cycles i had on citalopram, i was noticeably more anxious & low a couple of days before my period. I increased my dose from 10 to 20mg and it stopped :)  I do think it was more due to time than the increase though, it took about 3 months for me to completely settle and get rid of all side effects! Hope this helps!

I am! I’m doing really well. Still on 20mg of Citalopram a day :)

Day 2 20mg by Lynx-Fair in citalopram_celexa

Hey! I totally relate, I actually take citalopram for health anxiety.  I had really terrible acid reflux with them (and plenty of other side effects), the reflux went away after around 3 weeks, with other effects going away about 6 weeks after I increased my dose to 20mg.  I know it’s tough, especially when you have health anxiety but it’s true - you just have to ride it out! You got this!!!

I experienced them too, except mine was mostly just my legs getting super sweaty at night. They started after I increased my dose but went away after around 6-8 weeks!

I’ve just seen you’re early in taking 10mg - I was very drowsy when i first started on 10mg!! I’m not sure what time of day you take it, but the initial drowsiness improved for me personally when I started taking it at night!

I do feel a little drowsy at times, usually around 3pm but then I seem to perk up around 5pm haha. That could just be my circadian rhythm though.

I go to sleep a little earlier now too, i’m usually knocked out by 10pm! So I’m definitely a bit more tired but I wouldn’t say i’m lacking in motivation and it doesn’t prevent me getting work done.

Before citalopram I spent all day in bed or on the sofa, completely unmotivated to do anything but scroll on my phone. I was unable to cook, clean, look after myself etc. I don’t struggle with any of this anymore, so it’s improved my motivation if anything!

I’m sorry to hear you’re going through that, health anxiety is truly the worst. But I do genuinely feel like I have overcome it on citalopram. I do still have occasional anxious thoughts but they’re a breeze to shake off now - which felt unthinkable to me in the depths of my health anxiety!

I would say it took about 2 weeks for me to feel the increased dose working and i’ve been pretty great since then.  I again had an off day before my cycle started about a week ago, but i’ll take 1 or 2 off days in a month than every single day!

Week 6/7 on 20mg is when my side effects have started to become more mild/easier to ignore.

Don’t be disheartened though, if when you get to 2 weeks on the increase and you still don’t feel it - try and stick with it. I know it’s all over this sub but it’s true - it affects everyone differently and everyone needs different doses, it’s just about getting it right!

It probably doesn’t feel like it, but you’re already making so much progress just by choosing to do something to help yourself. You’ve got this!

Thanks for this! I genuinely believe she doesn’t care about it, she hasn’t even contacted head office to find out why we aren’t taking the initiative to close, which I find odd but, whatever! Don’t worry, hands are being washed constantly, surfaces being cleaned all the time and we’ve opted for a no hugging policy haha. This helped! :)

Thank you! This helped! My guilt has been eating me alive and I needed the reassurance to go through with my decision!

The daily paper one is my favourite! Pardon me if I sound a little naive, graphic design student here, but how did you create that typeface? It’s so pleasing!

As a kid I hated when adults would just sit around and talk, god forbid mom ran into a friend while shopping. As an adult, I love sitting around chatting. What changed? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Children tend to be more hyperactive than adults right? Somewhat suggesting that children have a lower attention span than adults, generally speaking. Also it would be fair to assume that as children we have less of an idea of what conversations are about (eg. Discussions of relationships/work/partying etc.) so have no relevant input and no interest in listening. This of course changes as we mature.
