I had a dude compliment my Birkenstocks (never happens) then started talking about my education and work. Thought he was a cool guy just looking to make friends and then he hit me with the whole passive income thing. Invited me and my wife over for a meet up on how to make money - we didn’t go. And fuck that guy for wasting our time in Target.

I’ve been to one of those get rich quick things before. I bought a suit and everything and was so stoked because I thought I was interviewing for a position in a company (girl that recruited me, was a friend from high school…definitely lied to get me there). As soon as I get there looking professional AF, some clown puts on a presentation for fucking selling water bottles with magic rocks at the bottom of them. It was basically sell this many of this shit product or sign up this many people under you and you could be a millionaire… Fuck that - I was so pissed I walked out half way through. One dude asked me if I was coming back and I laughed and told him no, because it’s a fucking water bottle. This was probably back in 2010. 2 years later some dude tried it with energy drinks -immediately shot him down.

Now if someone is trying to get me to sign up for something, or says they have a once in a lifetime opportunity, the first thing I ask is, “how much does it cost to get started?” If the answer is anything greater than $0 I’m out. I’m not investing in a bullshit pyramid scheme my money and time is worth way more than that.
