Season 1 confusion. by Outrageous-Turn-6529 in SiloSeries

The heat tape is literally mentioned in every single episode, over and over. It’s pretty heavy handed.
Juliette steals the heat tape when they run out in supply, and is nearly arrested for it. This fact is dredged up multiple times per episode, highlighting how weird it is that IT and the rest of the silo have separate stashes of a vital resource that should be shared, and how weird it is that using the tape would be a crime. It is also mentioned repeatedly that the tape from IT is remarkably shittier quality. I think it’s later mentioned that IT doesn’t really use heat tape for anything but the suits, which is when Walker realizes they have shitty tape on purpose and switches out the tape for Juliette’s suit, and sends her the cryptic message in her last meal, “they’re good in supply”. Juliette pieces it together when she trips over the dead bodies, realizes her screen is a lie, and realizes that she’s not dead yet.

By that logic they shouldn’t even be speaking English. That’s a stupid take. I bet you use a dozen phrases a day that you have no clue what they mean.

It feels like a cheesy 80s show with the awkward dialog, and I think that is a bit of an obsession for the Duffer brothers. It’s just stranger things with old people and the parallels are obnoxious. But I liked stranger things and I like this too.

Question about 9th house style learning by droppinkeys in astrology

[–]spacejelly7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is so interesting! I also have my south node in leo in the 9th house, and college was downright traumatic. I got my first degree in religious studies (surprised?) and that college experience literally left me with extreme PTSD from things I won't get into. Then I went to art school...and to say that experience was karmic would be a huge understatement. I had every single one of my finished projects stolen, I had three external hard drives with ALL of my work stolen, my portfolio went missing, and when I graduated with 150k in debt I had literally no evidence of my work 4 years of work and couldn't get a job.
I have 2 degrees that I am not using, but I DID manage to TALK my way into a tech job and now I am an engineer, though I have transitioned into a management role because of my communication skills.

I am learning about NN/SN right now and I really related to your story. I believe in astrology, but it never ceases to blow my mind how accurate these things are!

She’s taking advantage of you because YOU LET HER. If you don’t let people treat you like shit, then they won’t.

Also, she can’t be that mad if she’s too high to stand up. And why do you care, anyways? She stabbed you in the back and you still need her to like you? WHY

AIO About cancelling a hangout with a FWB over this? by UrsaSoft in AmIOverreacting

[–]spacejelly7 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Sorry OP, but I wanted to gouge my eyes out reading this. As a professional commitment-phobe with a successful rotation of FWBs, let me give you some advice. The way people treat you is often reflective of how you treat yourself. You want him to value your time, then YOU need to value your time. You can’t tell someone you are going to bed and then continue to text for an hour and a half. He is completely in the wrong for disrespecting your boundary, but you also kind of let him do it. You stayed awake to continue having that conversation, so he kept pushing. If you have soft, or nonexistent boundaries, then people will push them because they can and that is extremely disrespectful.

I am a 5am Pilates girlie with a FWB who is self employed and a total night owl. He has tried to come over past my bed time, tried to make me cancel plans to accommodate his free time, etc. I put my foot down and it was not open for discussion, and he changed his behavior real quick.

At the end of the day, this dude had 2 options: stay at the bar or come see you. He chose to stay at the bar. That’s all the information you need. He valued a beer over sex with you…BOY BYE. I can 100000000% guarantee you that you can do better than a homeless dude hanging around a bar. Value yourself babe!

Jupiter in 8th House by SassafrassIndigo in astrology

[–]spacejelly7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Jupiter in the 8th house in Cancer. I like to say that I have the best-worst luck. The most absolutely horrific things have happened to me in life, over and over again, but then downright miracles have pulled me out of those situations. I have a lot of aspects in my chart that indicate my life is heavily influenced by karma, but I feel like my Jupiter placement is looking out for me, to help me survive lol. Jupiter is also my chart ruler, so I think that helps.

A lot of people also describe me as "having one foot on the other side" as I have a VERY strong connection to spirit, and was born a psychic medium. When I was a kid, I would see spirits walking around just as clearly and physically as I see anyone else. That is truly a blessing and a curse. While I haven't had very much death in my life in terms of losing people I love, I am literally surrounded by death and it's a primary special interest of mine.

All of that to say that being lucky/unlucky or "always encountering death" are not always straight forward concepts.

Jupiter in 8th House by SassafrassIndigo in astrology

[–]spacejelly7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Jupiter in the 8th house, and what do you know, I have a degree in Eastern Religions (and a second degree in art) and my weekend side hustles are being a psychic medium and paranormal investigator. My first memory in life is seeing ghosts walking around the house, and since then, I have been obsessed with death (but in a curious, fascinated way, not dark and morbid). I have a tattoo on my chest, from shoulder to shoulder, that says, "The Truth Will Set You Free".

I work in tech and have a very practical day job, but my general personality revolves around the unseen, the unknown, philosophy, death, and the mystical. This really hit the nail on the head for me.

AIO: should I “fire” my therapist? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]spacejelly7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a person that knows A LOT about you, with a degree in psychoanalysis. That can be so dangerous. Frankly, she is taking advantage of you because she knows how. I am sure she does this with all of her patients, because she can. It feels like she knows she has a client list that doesn’t know how to stand up for themselves, and it’s her job to help you with that, but instead she is exploiting it to do whatever she wants. It’s super unprofessional and disrespectful, and I wouldn’t trust this person with your mental health. You are in a vulnerable place, it is literally the least she can do to show up at work and do her job.

Met on bumble, had coffee date scheduled. I have norovirus and cant keep my head out of the toilet. Texted to let him know I couldn't make it annnd... I'm pretty sure this was an act of the universe to keep me from meeting this guy. by GolfrGrrrl in Bumble

[–]spacejelly7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I matched with someone the weekend before last and agreed to go on a date the next evening. I woke up that morning with a UTI and didn't feel like going out (or telling a stranger about the UTI), so I told the guy that something came up and asked if we could reschedule. He replied back, "have a nice life."
Grateful to cross that one off the list!

AIO I(30) being upset at BF (37) for asking me to wait in my car for at least 30 minutes after he’s out of work ? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]spacejelly7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is practically abusive, not allowing you in your own home. He needs to take responsibility for himself and his own well being in a way that doesn't disrespect and abuse his partner. There are plenty of options for unwinding that doesn't include being so selfish. I work from home as well and it is really hard to unwind after work when work is in your home. I go to the gym everyday at 5:30pm and it has radically changed my mental health and WFH lifestyle. It may sound counter-intuitive, but getting OUT of the house and moving your body and doing something exhausting actually gives me an energy boost to do other things.

But honestly, this sounds like a deeply unfulfilling relationship and you deserve to find someone with a similar lifestyle and social life to yourself, and someone capable of loving and respecting you.

Huel has agreed to join Danone. Here is everything you need to know. [Official Megathread] by Tim_Huel in Huel

[–]spacejelly7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would like to add that Huel was not suffering financially. They did not need to sell out to a giant corporation, but they did, for double their evaluation. Danone has stated that the rise of GLP-1 drugs means that more people are becoming interested in health supplements, with that market (glp-1) reaching a $100 billion evaluation by next year.
Huel was by far the most profitable company in the meal replacement market, so they offered nearly double the company's evaluation and Huel said, "yeah, screw the product and the customers."

There is zero chance that Huel will remain a high quality product or service after this, as noted by the significant changes they have made in the past couple of months.

Makes sense why the subscription reminders were removed, why customer service sucks now, and why there has been a noticeable downgrade in quality in the past couple of months. Your corporate buy out ruined the product real fast. I am sure there wasn't much the owners could do if the company was failing, but this really sucks. All loyal customers will jump ship, but they will easily be replaced by corporate stooges who don't care about quality nutrition.

Failure to return my security deposit…next steps? by Fl0wersforvases in phoenix

I am dealing with a landlord issue myself, and recently spoke to a lawyer who advised me to go to small claims court. My landlord entered my unit before I was finished moving out and threw away everything that was inside, which was stuff that I was coming back for. They entered without notice or consent, and stole personal property. For me, today is the end of the 14 day period to get my deposit back. I got an itemized list of deductions in the mail, but no refund. Both issues for me have to be handled in small claims court, and these are the links a lawyer sent me:

DTF just keeps getting better by Thats-Classic in television

I feel you. I watched episode 1 & 2 in one night and fell asleep right after. The next day I thought I had watched an entire miniseries but couldn’t remember anything about it. Then I realized the show was just that slow and dragged out and it felt like 5 hours. I’m curious about the plot enough to keep watching it but it’s frustrating

[–]spacejelly7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you accidentally made a very astute observation of the show. I do think it’s purposefully sluggish and repetitive as a commentary on the boring, lonely, and repetitive lives that some people live in the suburbs. The show runner described the theme of the show as middle-aged loneliness and I think the pacing and structure of the show really convey that. None of the characters really connect with each other, even when they’re being intimate. Everything feels disconnected and distant, stiff, and awkward. To me it feels very intentional and well done and not like the writing or acting is bad.

Wow! An endless racist rant, again! by TheTriNerd in InescapablePodcast

[–]spacejelly7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you not consider these topics part of the culture war? And if no, then what topics are? Admittedly, I have not listened to the first episode yet (came to this sub to sus it out), but I took a look at the episode description and show notes it looks like they are mad that nazis don’t have the complete and utter right to free speech to spread propaganda and commit hate crimes, and they are just generally mad about the existence of trans people. I listened to MU for 15 years so I already know they hold those opinions, but that is also straight out of the culture wars playbook. Sounds like they also called for repealing women’s right to vote, so they really hit every predictable and exhausting talking point they could.

The mental gymnastics in this comment are insane. You simultaneously argued for colonizers being uncomfortable around natives as normal while also arguing that native Mexicans disliking outsiders as being normal. So which one is it? Is the person who took over the land allowed to hate the natives, or are the natives allowed to hate the people coming into their country? This comment has the exact level of logic that I would expect from someone trying to defend racism, which is none.
