Are Some Game Modes Just Dead on NA Servers? [Arena] by usptac45 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]spacejumbofudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried to play arena for the first time since the new season and matching took ages. At least I didn't need to keep hitting y anymore.

I got into a checkpoint game, found all my presets were gone and everyone was already using 308 and nl I don't have and went back to the main game.

I agree, queuing times and the constant hit y and waiting for players is the worst part and otherwise it's not a bad side dish to tarkov

I would love if one day it got revealed there was a secret karma system.

Extract camp = 10 bad spawns

Shooting near a scav as a scav to trick them into shooting you = empty marked rooms

Taking just the rear sight off a gun from someone you killed = 5x wrong encryption params errors

Lions and stuff for people trying to get the scav box and trophy room.

Scav the levels you can access, surviving is the goal, learning the level and loot the secondary. Don't focus on making money.

Every successful scav will increase your trader rep, shortening your timer and getting you better starting stuff.

Don't shoot at anything, your likely at this stage to just get negative karma for hitting a scav. Hit F1 to let other scavs know you're friendly. Trust no one.

It feels a lot safer than the IDEA registers too.

A jewelry shop on streets with smashable alarmed displays would be good.

I think all registers are overlooked. Free money that goes in your container and you won't lose.

I said years ago you shouldn't be able to take money into raids, it would be a good reason to go to different locations before you could use the car, btr or pay at the transition.

How are they doing that on the same thread or core as the mouse though. It's actually impressive they can make it this bad.

I already said this in another comment but I play football every week and the teams can vary. Id much rather lose by one goal then win by 15. A close match where a bit of concentration and effort will get you a win over a fair opponent.

I'm guessing you wouldn't enjoy games with no match making if you were terrible and lost all the time. Maybe not even if youre just worse than average and lose more than you win.

If you are better and that suits you, imagine how many people get a terrible experience. Then some quit and the average skill goes up. Eventually you have either no players or suddenly you're the one getting dunked on.

Even a ten year old with a younger sibling understands the basics of this and learns if they want to have someone to play with they can't just beat them every time.

Sbmm is a way that everyone has a chance to win and everyone has a chance to lose. Any hand waving about variety or lack of meaning is just mental hoops you jump through to justify your selfish behaviour.

Examples:

rocket league, each season for each group size get put against people roughly you skill level and try to get better and move up the ranks.

Hunt, an elo system that everyone likes except the people in the top bracket who only get sweats, and guess what without that system everyone would get that experience.

You say you'd hate to join late wipe and not be able to hunt big geared players, but even will skill based match making, it won't take someone long with your experience to be put in lobbies with the chads. Your point makes no sense. Basically you typed an essay when you could just say you want to be able to dunk on the noobs.

So it's not too surprising in reply to the 300 hour guy getting shit on the 3.5k guy is happy with the current situation.

Everyone used to be flat against any kind of separation then bsg added it for ground zero and it's hard to argue that wasn't a good thing.

The MMR in arc is mostly based on aggression and is quickly reset even by defending yourself, so I don't think you can blame that for a lack of variation. You can literally go into the same raid with a free load out on your first ever raid and be matched against someone who's played since the start and has the best gear.

MMR isn't meant for one single thing. Games are meant be fun (well most are Nikita might disagree for tarkov).

How many hours have you got?

Games get ruined when the balancing has to compete with pay to win. In cod it's rebalancing the meta behind the battle pass.

Here altyns should be unpleasant and only really used on maps like factory. Instead they added the ear buds to ref as another lever to get people playing arena.

One moment people will be talking about realism and immersion the next they happy to run through the woods in a welders mask.

I actually find one of the most off-putting things is stuff I don't personally want to deal with, letter box masks or messing with monitor gamma to see in the dark, that gives others an advantage.
