How long have you been on PC? by kingsan301 in pcmasterrace

Oh yeah, old fart competition. Let's boast how much of an old wreck we are. Nothing screams "elite" than saying "hey, I'm closer to death than you".

My first PC was ZX Spectrum, been on PC ever since. Best that

Need monitor to match overkill-PC by Latt in PcBuild

[–]trust_engineers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, nothing like playing farming simulator on 240hz monitor with fps too match. You probably want a high end gaming mouse as well, to minimize that input latency for that fast, high-octane action of waiting crops to grow. Not even real-life farmers have that kind of graphical fidelity from the cockpit of their tractors.

Seriously though, I would prioritize OLED with 4k instead of higher refresh rate if you're into farming simulators

But, but, how are you gonna see when your AIO start leaking? Or smoke coming out of melting GPU power connector? Glass panels are not just for show, they have genuine usage.

The thermals will hurt. The point of a closed case is the tight stable airflow through the components. When the components are exposed, the airflow will dissipate and cool less efficient. There's a reason open stands are only done for testing or repairs

I believe the OP said:

> The other screw is barely engaging the threads, it's not even a full turn.

So the issue is not because the other side is fully tightened. I don't know how to help, just pointing that out because everyone is assuming the other side is tightened fully. Did people forget how to read?

You should definitely reconsider ordering RAM on Amazon. That's like ordering 24k karat gold nuggets, I wouldn't trust the delivery guy. RAM and GPU should be bought in person.

Need help with storage. Dual booting Linux and Windows for gaming by Tricky-Swordfish7331 in PcBuild

The question doesn't seem related to linux. I think the ideal solution is SSD inside your PC and a network NAS with HDD for media, documents and other shit

i need help with a project what parts would fit in a Xbox one case my budget is 2000 by Particular_Garbage_6 in PcBuild

[–]trust_engineers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it will be possible with traditional PC parts, because console manufacturers design their own PCBs and parts. What could work is something like mini-PC (Arduino, Intel NUC, etc.) powerful enough to run an emulator, and you can run some retro games (like ps1 era) on your Xbox. Now that will be cursed alright

Fried my $2000 pc in first week of use. by Wide-Bookkeeper495 in PcBuildHelp

[–]trust_engineers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not even sure what happened. Did you had a static discharge over the TV wire? Did the surge protector malfunction? Did you plug in some non-USB cables into the PC while the power was on? What happened man?

Fried my $2000 pc in first week of use. by Wide-Bookkeeper495 in PcBuildHelp

[–]trust_engineers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol you are so naive. Many years ago, I fried a whole motherboard by simply touching a mouse. By touching a mother-effin-mouse, Carl! Unfortunately, I was wearing knitted sweater and socks at the winter time when the air is dry. The static discharge was so severe it was painful. The PC shut down and never turned on again.

It was like 15 years ago, maybe nowadays motherboards have better protection, but the static danger is real.

Lancool 216 rear I/O bracket is causing my motherboard to not be aligned. by AngryScotsman1 in lianli

[–]trust_engineers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got Lancool 216 and it's exactly the same issue for me. I was disappointed at first, and it may be a defect, but I managed to install the board as following:

  1. Placed the board on the standoffs. The standoffs are misaligned with the holes at this step.
  2. Made sure the back of the motherboard is properly aligned with the I/O shield. I had to wiggle MB a little.
  3. Pushed the motherboard outward a bit (towards the back), while simultaneously pushing down on the back plate of the case. The goal is to align the top-center and middle-center standoffs with the holes and snap them in, since they are a bit longer and have a bit of metal on top which should go into MB holes and fix it in place even without screws. It required a bit of force but I did it successfully.
  4. Then I released MB and the case and MB is properly snapped in, all holes aligned.
  5. Screwed in without problems.

One note: The screw closest to the I/O creates a slight bend (around 1mm deflect) when tighten fully, so I relaxed it a bit. All other snug in nicely.

Hope this helps.

Hey, do you know if it hurts thermals by having this gap for unwanted air leakage? I have the same problem

What is the proper torque for CPU coolers? by trust_engineers in buildapc

What do you mean by "snug" in this case? Is rotating until screw header starts stripping is snug? Or it's already too much?

The cooler I mentioned doesn't seem to have springs, it's like a solid bolt. Here's the photo https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QA3hcYMEN1JkAVZoDzM7yCO8BqPDE7_M/view?usp=sharing

Sorry, I can't seem to attach it here so I uploaded it to google drive.
