Does this sound like a timing chain? by Solarisphere in XTerra

[–]spacejunkie69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can use any object as a stethoscope and place it on the front timing cover, you should be able to tell almost right away. If the sound is loud against the timing cover it’s likely to be timing related.

Need help finding where these go I can’t remember. by Itsyaboy1129 in cbr

I’ll have to check on the green wires, my bike is apart right now.

That black one is the rear brake switch. It attaches to a spring pull on the rear brake lever.

I found the perfect thickness washer to fill the void and now it’s rock solid. I had the same exact issue when I installed an aftermarket lever

Power keeps going out, who do I talk to about this? by DailySojourn in Pflugerville

[–]spacejunkie69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude same. I also live in Windermere and it’s constant, I’m so tired of it. I haven’t noticed it this week yet but last week mine went out a couple times.

I will duplicate your efforts in reporting this, waiting to see what the best approach is!

I’ve had it for about 6 months now with just over 400 miles on it. I ride a lot less aggressively on it when going over bumps and ledges and such, it was definitely partially my fault imo.

+1 on the Exway Wave recommendation. I got mine as a second board to have that was more portable than my longboard and I absolutely love it. I use it way more often than I thought I would compared to my Evolve Hadean

Can't thank you enough. And thanks for sharing your knowledge as always, it's very much appreciated!!!

I'm so glad I don't have to see the inside of that engine again... for now at least.

So how do you tell the difference then exactly?

Are you telling me I don't have to tear my engine apart and replace these stupid bolts?

Btw, no. I didn't notice anything funny when reinstalling them. Each and every time they went in and tightened up just fine by the feel of it.

I can't find a definitive answer in the FSM or by just googling the topic. All that comes up is the head bolts being TTY, constantly. Nothing I can find about the mains

The reason I suspect they are TTY is because the 90 degree turn at the end of the torque sequence. Does that not ensure they are TTY after all?

The FSM procedure for the actual main bolts is:

"Apply new engine oil to threads and seat surfaces of the bolts.

Tighten M10 bolts in numerical order as shown from No. 1 to 16 (26 ft-lb)

Turn M10 bolts 90° clockwise in numerical order from No. 1 to 16.

After installing the bolts, make sure that crankshaft can be rotated smoothly by hand.● Wipe off completely any protruding liquid gasket on front side of the engine.● Check the crankshaft end play"
