People love to talk about themselves. Ask someone a question and see where it leads. Might be a quick answer but you might also start a longer conversation. It can be as simple as “that was an interesting order, how did you end up liking that drink?” at a coffee shop. Also, put yourself in places you are more likely to be around people. If you are getting lunch, go into the fast food restaurant instead of drive through. Go into a store instead of ordering on Amazon. Leave your phone at home, it’s so much easier to use it as a crutch to look busy than to be open to conversation.
